The Dual Alliance II

Mongols - Turn 142

The Mongol fleet had set off fr Tabriz, rounded the northern coasts and is currently sweeping south towards Satsuma. Not much sign of other nearby islands or lands...

12 turns to theology; and with our GL waiting in Karakoram for the 'big event'...

The MEA being recalled, and would be stationed at home, in several contingents, while waiting for discovery of other lands. Once we know where they are, hehe...

The war in the south appeared to be going well for Japan; no worries there. :)

Japan, turn 142:

Tojo's army and a couple elite swordsmen have advanced to Cattaraugus. :)

Turn 143: Cattaraugus captured. :)

Mongols - Turn 144

The Scandinavians came a-begging for an alliance against the 'evil' Japanese... Is that the look for hope in his annoyed face?

Our galley has found Persia and India! By selling contacts we have acquired a map of the world. (Oops, forgot to send the map to our Mongol allies!)

Mongols - Turn 145

The French, Persians, Indians all wanted to exchange territorial maps with mighty Mongolia. Nay... :p

The French were technologically in the Stone Age; it's going to be a slaughter... :mwaha:

The Persians were on tech parity with us; while the Indians were slightly behind. Both of them are also building the Great Library... Hurry up, donsig! Unless you want me to use my GL and rush it?

It's going to be eons before the Mongols can sail across the ocean, so for the time being, we're preparing the production base for our armies.

I like the look of your terrain graphics XIII.
Where can i get it? ;)
I think it's the water-color graphics pack in PTW, made by warpstorm (?). You can also DL it here - in the C & C (Customization and Creation) subforum I think. ;)

Japan, turn 147:

Forces recuperating. Great Library in 20 turns (maybe). Republic next turn. :)

Mongols - Turn 148

According to Mongol envoys at the court of the Persian Emperor, the Persians were at war with the Indians... :undecide:

5 turns to theology...

Republic discovered. We have shared this new government system with our Mongol friends. :)

Hmmm... do horsemen upgrade to Samurai?

Mongols - Turn 149

It all began with a report fr the imperial censor 'touring' our southern borderlands... The court of the Great Khan learned to its shock that the Mongol border lords had been secretly trafficking religious rites to the ancient enemies of our Japanese allies, the Scandinavians and the Iroqious, in return for gold and slaves. In fury, the Great Khan Knight-Dragon ordered the border lords and their clans to be brought to order, and transferred to the imperial capital. Fearing the righteous justice of the Great Khan, the Mongol border lords rebelled, along with their tumen (Mongol military formation of 10000).

Hiring the malicious Hassassins Guild, that most evil gang of assassin mercenaries, the lords had the Great Khan assassinated, sowing chaos within the imperial household. The Crown Prince XIII (:p) took the reins of power, but the other princelings disputed the succession. In particular, the princes holding the fiefs of Kazan (which guarded the approaches to the north) and Almarikh refused to join their princely tumen to the Imperial Guards and other loyalist forces gathering at the imperial capital.

In addition, rumours drifted down fr the former Roman lands of the north, of rebel Romans seizing this opportunity to rise against the Mongol occupation forces. No news had arrived at the capital fr the north for weeks, with the Prince of Kazan closing off the roads to the north.

The Mongol empire marched towards civil war...

The disturbing reports out of Mongolia have set off a chain reaction of events in Japan. The King has been deposed and a republican government has been established. The Japanese people rejoice in their new government as victory in the Iroquois War is at hand. Yes, Hiawatha is no more. :) The new Republic of Japan expects to follow up it's initial victory with another over Japan's ancient enemy, the Vikings.

Once that victory is assured what will be the Republic's next step?

Why, invading Persia and India (if it still exists...) of course. ;) :p You can get there; I can't yet.

Mongols - Turn 150

The Mongol border lords had rallied behind the prince of Almarikh. Spies reported disputes betw the princes of the two main enemy factions - dissent in the enemy camp is always good. :yeah:

A spy attached to the princely court at Kazan also reported a mass engagement north of Kazan, but we do not know the participants, apart fr unconfirmed rumours.

In the meantime, the loyal garrison forces of Tabriz and Darhan had marched at once for the capital, to reinforce the Imperial Guards, and the princely tumen of the Crown Prince, as well as assorted militia forces.

I've established an embassy with Xerxes and investigated Tyre (see screenshot below). They are 78 turns away from completing the Great Library. Delhi is 41 turns away from completing the Great Library. (I don't know how to include more than one picture per post so there's no screenshot of Delhi.) Kyoto is 16 turns away from finishing the Great Library. Since we're technologically advanced I'm not too keen on actually building it. I'm 7 turns away from feudalism and theology is just around the corner. I suggest one of us builds Sistine and the other Sun Tzu's. Which do you want?

I already said I want the SC. I do have a GL, sitting around you know... :mischief:

I'll let you have Bach's for Leonardo's?

I think I will go ahead and complete the Great Library then. I just got a Great Leader this turn! Don't know if I want to use him for another wonder or to rush a forbidden palace on the other continent.

FYI - game e-mailed and I continued using the old patch. If you upgrade this turn let me know!
