A contemporary of Marie Antoinette, a distant relative of Princess Diana and the original IT girl.

This looks fantastic. Has anyone seen it? Anyone excited? There's A LOT of buzz and Oscar talk right now.

Mindless chick flick with costumes.

I know what you're talking about but this isn't one of those. Or rather to the point, what makes you think this is one those movies? Do you even know what it's about? I think it's more provocative and feminist than anything. Don't think it's going to be about lighthearted themes.

Gathered taglines ans plot summaries:

There were three people in her marriage

Based On The Incredible True Story

The scandal that shocked a nation. The courage that defined a woman.

That right there does not bode well.

A chronicle of the life of 18th century aristocrat Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, who reviled for her extravagant political and personal lives. She is a vibrant beauty and celebrity of her time. But she is trapped in an unhappy triangle with her husband and his live-in mistress. She falls passionately in love with an ambitious young politician, and the affair causes a bitter conflict with her husband and threatens to erupt into a scandal.

Chick flick if I ever saw one.

:) LOL The only movie preview website that has a "Costumes" tab, ever.

(please respect the dead though).

Maybe the director's cut will have a cameo with Sylvester Stallone, to save it? "Yo, DUCHESSSSS!!!"

Mindless chick flick with costumes.

Will no doubt appeal to those brits who actually cried when Princess Diana launched those wonderful series of underpass jokes...

I actually saw Marie Antoinette aswell as Elizabeth and they were absolutely horrible - this looks to be a film just like those.

IMO there aren't even a handful of female actresses who can actually play the main role of a film without become unbearably annoying after about 30mins.

Here comes the sexist comments.

Is there more to this criticism other than the fact that this is about a strong woman?

Have you actually read the thread or are you using the force? :)

Dear Jebus. Can't not like a flick with a woman in it, because you must be sexist.

Some of my best friends are women :D

I think its about the fqact that its focussed on clothes and drama. No one made sexist comments about Veronica Guerin, no one would make sexit comments about a movie about Benazir Bhutto...

to be fair, there probably is serious discussion to be had about this movie, Bast, but OT is hardly the place to look for it

How many times do you have to slap Keira Knightly before she gets that moronic pucker off her face?

Yerah I find that highly irritating too. She was pretty good in bend it like Beckham but has annoyed me ever since

Oh damn... I saw the title wand thought it meant Fergie was making a movie:(

Looks like a chick flick, Keira Knightly:drool:

Well, yes, she should be in the kitchen, not the castle. Has noting to do with the fact that she's strong, just that she's a woman.

Also the fact that chick flicks and hippies in general are the cause of moral decay in our society.

A movie:

1. starring Fabio,
2. recommended by Oprah, and
3. not starring Angelina Jolie,
4. and accessorizes.

Do you people even know what a chick flick is?

How was Marie Antoinette a ''strong woman''? I don't know that much about her.
