The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The maximum normal level is 50 - I've heard about as high as 39, and that was several months ago.
Not sure if you can exploit prison to lower your skills and go beyond level 50, like in Morrowind.

EDIT: Also, my own highest level is 16. Not much for leveling... I just spent all my time being all assassiny.

i was like 35 but i beat like most of the quests for everything, maybe like 4 more or so left in the game besides the daedric quests, but then i stopped playing

i never played morrowind, maybe i should give it a try

and best way to get easy cash is too higher your strength to high levels, drop any items that arent necessary to carry with you at some safe place, get a a strong light weapon, probably like a shortsword, some arrows and a bow...to get added strength enchant normal cothing or shoes, this allows you to run fast as well

then go wandering around in caves and such, from your enemy's defeated body take all armor, weapons,(its usually not a good idea to take 93lbs warhammers) and then go to a merchant that you know will but weapons and armor and sell them...

you higher your level by a lot, find tons of new locations, get tons of money, and who knows,.... pick up enchanted rings and such

doing this was a huge help to me but it is very time consuming

@anyone

does your items you place in drawers and such ever disappear after a while...for some reason i put like 55 ninroots in a chest or drawer and it disappeared:cry: :)

I've read that they do respawn items (when reading about a manor mod), so I guess it will remove all items in the drawer. (Sounds a bit sloppy to me if they assume that all items are non-player items...)

I noticed when you put tons of stuff in one container, the stuff might disappear. :( In my archmage room I put 1000+ of ingredients and potions in the chest in front of the bed and they are no where to be found.

It didn't hurt me much though since my character is very high level and don't really need those stuff anymore.

@ Thunderfall:
That's a known bug. Your items are still there... it's just the inventory interface is bugged, so it cannot display all the items properly. Just take a few things out and you'll see your items return.

@ Chieftess:
The normal respawn cycle is a week. But you never know if it's the last day in the cycle when you put your item there. So just don't.

@ Spartan117:
For high level characters, cleaning dungeons is *the* way to get money. But for low level characters (e.g. level 1 to 10), the loot won't be good - and how many sets of iron/leather armor could you carry anyway? ;) For them, alchemy is the way to go. Buy 2 gold ingredients (all are normal food) from bars and alchemy shops. Then "borrow" an alchemy set from a nearby mage guild, and mix them all into fatigue potions (all normal food as restore fatigue as first property). Then sell them all, and don't forget to try to haggle. You will earn much money in a very short time.

I think I've found a nice bit of spoiler info regarding guilds...

Spoiler :

If you want to join the Thieve's Guild and Dark Brotherhood, wait until you're a guildmaster at the other guilds. That way, they won't kick you out because you're already the guildmaster!

You don't have to... just don't get caught. ;)

heh I was going to say that, but I was worried the Imperial Legion might be reading this thread :scan:

that could explain how I can steal some stuff in Anvil and as soon as my foot steps inside the Imperial City get lynched by a mob of armoured soldiers :(

Woe! Woe! Horsicus Fantasticus is dead! :(

I had just shut an Oblivion Gate, when we were attacked by scamps. I battled them off, but heard the whinying of Horsicus and dashed back to see him fleeing from two of them! I gave chase, of course.

And he ran straight into another Oblivion Gate, where more scamps joined the attack. I was forced to fight one off, and lost sight of Horsicus. He still hasn't come back :(

Isn't there a way to heal other characters? (I'm not sure if using "Heal small wounds" actually works on others). It's very annoying when you have AI soldiers tag along, and they do 1 of 3 of the following:

1 - Step in another NPC's line of fire when it's trying to attack an NPC that's attacking you, thus, you have the 2 guards wind up fighting each other. (I have a funny screenshot of it)

2 - Step in YOUR line of fire at the last minute with virtually 1 hitpoint remaining.

3 - Not follow you into another room, and they go off to another area, try to fight Scamps and such, and wind up getting killed. Oh well, free armor...

You just need a healing spell that's a touch or target spell (instead of self). Try looking at the chapel in each town..they should have restoration spells for sale.

Those heal companion spells usually have the word "convalescence" in the name. Ex. Great Convalescence, Greater Convalescence, etc.

I know in Morrowind I NEVER put stuff into a chest unless it was a blank chest (no item list or items came with it). So in Oblivion do the empty chests that come with the game "restock"? With mods?

i mean once your high level, daedric armor, glass armor, and weapons are worth a lot of money. and cleaninig dungeons was the way i described as getting money, from the armor/weapons you pick up...well it worked for me, i had spells that feather things with my super strength i was soon able to carry every weapon and armor every enemy had in a "dungeon" type place...it was a lot of money....

the ninroots erased after it got really laggy and froze on my 360...or at least i think it was

If your horse isn't dead, he will return to the place you purchased him. He will need some time to walk to there, so be patient.

Or listen to me and get the "Call Steed" mod. It adds a number of rings, one for each type, in a certain stable (see the readme).

When you wear one of those ring, if you do own a horse of that type, and it isn't dead, it will be teleported to you - the mod teleported it behind you, and a little distance away. So when you hear your horse and turn around, you'll see it galloping towards you. Great mod.

If your horse is dead, its corpse will spawn behind you - so you know to purchase a new one.

Those stock convalescence spells are VERY inefficient. You will find yourself out of mana and your horse isn't even 50% healed, if you don't have the mana of a pure mage.

Better create one yourself. Have it on touch range, and works over time. That'll be much more magicka-friendly.

I'm kinda curious, should I close those Oblivion gates? it's just.... there seems to be a growing number of them as I play all the sub quests?

I think you're beating a dead horse.

*ducks*

I've noticed that, too. I think I found about a dozen of them - if not all 15. The creatures around it may cause multiple NPCs to try and attack them (usually 2 gaurds, one with a bow & arrow), causing the arrow gaurd to shoot the other gaurd in the back...

It must be a conspiracy to weaken the military force of the empire!
