The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

oh there's a definite number of them? 15? I thought they would just keep appearing. I've already closed 2. I stumbled upon a battle scene once, there was a dead horse, a dead civilian, 2 dead scamps and a dead imperial horseman. I was like "yay free stuff", Legion armour sells REALLY well :mischief:

meant to ask. is this a glitch I found. just down from an Oblivion gate I found a black horse, just sitting there, I cast detect life and there was an invisible guy beside the horse, I could pickpocket him and he was a courier for (oddly enough) the Black Horse mail service thingy. Was he meant to be invisible or did he cast a spell on himself to hide from the scamps?

I think you're beating a dead horse.

*ducks*

:( Have some respect for the dead

:p

Meh, was gonna buy a new horse anyway. A spotty one isn't very Knight-like. Just need to think up a name.

Also noticed, it is a lot easier to advance in the Arena as a knight than it is an archer. Ho hum.

16. Atleast that's what one of the hints when an area is loading implies. The Black Horse Courier guy might've done that to defend himself. NPCs will do that.

BTW, I got a Chameleon (sp) Ring from a Daedric fighter. Doesn't see to be doing much good... Plus, it's confusing not knowing where your sword is...

Chameleon makes you harder to spot - so it's good for sneaking/stealing. It doesn't make you invisible, so once an NPC has seen you, so long as you don't duck behind something when they aren't looking, they'll continue to see you.

oh yeah, the number of princes, I never thought of that. well 2 have felt the end of my blade so it's all good.

I've got the Chameleon ring. yeah it's annoying to see where your sword is. I use it when I'm sneaking about castles and pick pocketing people. If I have it on and get into a fight I tend to swap it with a ring of Fire protection or something just incase the guy's packing some magic

The oblivion gates outside the cities will stay closed, but all others are random gates - you close one, another opens. Sometimes even right at where a closed gate is.

I did have one that I think closed and respawned after I closed a 2nd gate. I went to the location of that gate (by Leyawiin), and it wasn't there... BTW, I've closed my 3rd gate so far.

EDIT:

I'm a bit stuck at two quests...

1 - The large pillar quest (Mage's Guild quest) where I need fire, ice, fortify/destroy magic. The fortify one needs level 50 I think (for skill), and I can't find a scroll...

2 - The vampire hunter quest in the Imperial City. I'm out of lockpicks! I've been having a lockpick shortage for quite a long time. Any way of getting them without joining the thieve's guild?

You can complete a daedric shrine quest to get a key that never breaks...

1) There should be scrolls in a chest near by. That is if you didn't already use them.

2) Out side of the Imperial city. If you go to the stables and go clock ways around the outer wall a dude will be chilling there. He sells 30 lock picks for 180 I think and also some offencive potions.

1 - yeah, I googled it. :)
2 - I got the unlock average locks spell.

Right now, I solved the tower puzzle, and I'm looking for that switch in the cave (Vanch-something) for the Mage's Guild quest.

Sweet!

Can't wait to get this game.

You get to fight against your underlings, too. ;)

(a.k.a., scamps - vain attempt at a play on words)

i think there is no definite amount, more appear randomly(except a few that appear next to cities or other specific spots need for specific quests) as you discover new area...more and more oblivion gates appear...

The only way to get lockpicks is through finding them, I think. It sucks, yes, but that's just how it is.
Not so. You can get them from the shady merchants around Tamriel - for instance, you can purchase them from your Guild if you're in one of the less legal ones.

I'm doing the Thieves Guild quests atm and the more I done it the more I thought of the Grey Fox as a tool.... but then I found out about the curse, so I guess he's ok.

Question- if I take all the stuff worth nicking from the house where the Grey Fox is, does that constitute stealing? or is it free game? same question applies to Guild Halls cause there's some good stuff in there

If you aim the crosshair at an activateable item (door, objects you can pick up, etc.), it will either be red or tan. If the little hand icon in the crosshair is red, that means it's illegal to activate that object (enter that area, take that object, etc.). If you're in a Guild, *usually* the property of that Guild is available for you to take. I'm not sure about the Thieves' Guild.

yeah I knew about the hand thing it's just....... well there are some stuff in locked cases and I'm just curious as to if it's ok or not.... I steal some of the stuff anyway I@m just curious :)
