The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Even moving an owned object is "stealing". I guess it's so you don't carry it around with you.

BTW, some funny things I noticed... (speaking of carrying things)

You can't walk while being over-encumbered, but if you carry (with the object floating in mid-air) the over-encumbering object, you can walk fine.

If you use an ease burden spell that's say, 5 seconds from depleting, you can still reach your destination by fast traveling, even when you would normally be over-encumbered. Although, I can see the problem that could occur if your ease burden spell ran out during a fast travel (not to mention the fact that the computer would have to plot the exact course - more memory), if you fell into a river, well, you're out of luck. :) (ok, so maybe is uses - or abuses - the above step...)

As long as the crosshair, etc. isn't red, its fair game. Go ahead and take it.
Not really true at all times. :) In the Dark Brotherhood santuary, there are some chests owned by other members. You can open them and the crosshair is not red. But if you take stuff from the chests when other members are present, they will call you a thief and attack you.

I seem to have an issue........

as I mentioned earlier in Bravil I found 2 beggers lying dead for no aparant reason, I didn't really care until I got a mission for the Thieves Guild where I have to steal an arrow from the wizard in Bravil and I'm told I've to ask some beggers for help. the problem is, the green arrows point to the spots on the ground where the dead bodies were, not there anymore unfortunately.

Hmm......

That is some wierdness. You may be SOL. I'm sure you could hack them back to life in the consoul but I don't know how to do that.

Do a google search. There is a command to do that, but you'd have to know the NPC's FieldID number. (and for that, you need to download the full construction kit from the Oblivion website, and dig around... whilst spoiling the game for yourself - potentially)

You don't need the beggars. Here is the relevant portion from the thieves guild quests guide on GameFaqs:

Spoiler :
Head to Bravil, and look for your friendly neighborhood beggar. The beggar
may tell you that Fathis has a tower just outside the city walls, which is
where he keeps he prized possessions. You can check Fathis's room in the
castle, but you won't find the arrow there (Although there are a few nice
things to pilfer). Fathis is the only one that can open the door to his tower,
so as it turns out you'll have to head to his room anyway. To find his room,
head to the throne room in Bavil's castle, and up to the second floor. Find
the door to the Lord's Manor North Wing and pick the lock. Once inside, watch
for guards and sneak your way to the first door on your left, this one belongs
to Fathis. I don't think hes ever here though, so shut the door behind you
and loot the place. Of course the staff won't be here, Fathis keeps it in his
tower with his other goodies. I came back to Fathis's room every two hours
for an entire day, but he was never there, so the guy clearly doesn't sleep
at all unless he returns there on certain days only. Anyway, since the tower
door is locked, that means to get to the arrow we'll have to take the secret
entrance. If you talked to the Count of Bravil, he actually mentions it in
conversation when you ask about Fathis. If you look near the back of
Fathis's room, you'll notice another special moveable pillar you can hit to
open a door to the Bravil Wizard's Grotto.

GameFaqs has lots of guides for Oblivion.

CT, if you want to get the unbreakable lockpick, you find the shrine quest here:

Spoiler :
Start in Leyawiin. Leave by the North East gate and follow the
road north. You'll pass the Ayleid citadel of Veyond, Blanken March and find
a dirt path on your right leading to the Shrine.

This key is one of the best items you can have in the game IMO. :) In Morrowind, only the Thieves Guild's guild master has it.

The Skeleton Key in Morrowind has 50 uses and a 'quality' of 5.0, which will open any lock successfully.

And you don't need the ID from TESCS - just hit the console key, click on the corpse, and type in "resurrect". ;)

A bit of a spoiler (maybe?), but the last Mage's Guild quest gives you an item to "reanimate" the fallen. I wonder if that'll revive them...

@TF - Is it the "Skeleton Key"? I think I found it once (not sure if it was a save where I was just playing around, or if I removed it, and it's in a drawer, or behind a chest somewhere in my house).

Anyway, I'm about to complete the last Mage's Guild quest (continuing tomorrow). I've also got a nice set of Glass Daggers - got a screenshot of it.

My khajit also has a nice enhanced Glass Longsword (I enhanced it myself!):
- Fire, Ice, and Shock damage (15 or 25 points), then a drain HP skill for about 10 seconds or so (high damage rate). Makes for nice ghost killers. :)

I called it the "Elemental Glass Longsword". It first gives a general elemental attack, along with further drainage. Quite powerful.

Nope, that staff only revives them for a while to fight.

To revive an NPC, you need their NPC ID or their corpses.

If corpses are available, enter console and click on it. Then type "resurrect".

If corpses are not available, you can use the placeatme command.

See them all at UESP.

Yup, it's the skeleton key.

CT, have you moved in to the Skingrad house yet? It's really a nice house. :)

heh, about the dead beggers. I knew that, being the Court Wizard he would have to go in the Castle so I headed there and found his room and subsequently the pillar. I just killed some big Frost Demon thingy, I'll play it later

edit: no I wont, I'll play it in a few days, I'm getting Warlords delivered today. Hallowed be the Ori

Saving up some gold. I've been saving some REALLY expensive "armor" (if you count enchanted pants and shirts as armor - 1000g) to sell.

I found some enchanted pants in the belly of a giant fish. I'll need to sell them heh

I have yet to sell any magit items or daedric items. but when I do ill buy every hous in the game and furnish them all

I just finished the Mage's Guild quests. Those necromancers (and even their leader) are WIMPS when it come to fire! Just 1-3 blasts and they're gone. Even the ghosts take more hits than them! (Granted, having a Glass Longsword with fire, ice, shock, AND drain does help...)

I have about 15-16K gold. I guess I'll go shut some Oblivion gates and collect some armor. My house is getting too filled with other armor! (I'm saving some just for display)

Have anybody been able of doing the main quest as a pure archer? I've been finding it impossible the three times i've tried too begin it on three different levels. The monsters simply do me off very quickly in oblivion gates.
Most side quests have gone fairly smoothly however.
I think i must resort to adjusting the difficulty slider in my favor, but before i do so i will see if my trusted forum have any advise to a poor archer.

Do the mage guild so you can enchant a bow and arrows to your liking.

Edit to add: Do the deadric quest for Boethia. I'm in there now and faught 2 archers with all kinds of enchanted arrows. Go in carrying as little as posible you'll want all the stuff you'll be able to carry. The Items may be level specific so.............

Then it would be a pure archer. It would be an Archer-Mage.

I plan to try that, though - different warrior class combos, or pure classes.

Bruin Orc Warrior - no magic, and he only does the fighter's guild.
Redgaurd Knight (are they the best knight class?) - Pure fighter's guild, some mage's guild (simple healing).
Pure Mage - No fighter's guild, just a mage. (they only use mage's clothes, and staffs)
Villian-like character - thief and dark brotherhood from the start. Probably assassin class (like my character, but meaner).

Challenge: - Custom Class - "Peasant". They can only fight with the clothes on their backs. They can not enchant items, but scavenging enchanted clothes is ok. They can only equip knives at best - but will probably be regulated to fist-fighting.

I might do a pure archer or something.

If I can, I might make a mod with several new guilds (or orders).

Sage's Guild - Guild members would be in the chapels and such.
Order of the Imperial Knight - Guild members live in barracks, and you get to be a castle gaurd/knight! (At the end, you could build your own town.)
Alchemists Guild - This will wind up being an offshoot of the Mage's Guild.

Necromancer's Guild - The dark side of the Mage's Guild.
Order of the Daedric Cult - The goal would be to become an undead class. (or "redead" like an enemy in one Legend of Zelda game - the rubbery guys)
Maybe another one, but can't think of one.

I've have arcane access and i've used some enchanted bows but it hasn't been enough. However i cant enchant arrows... Deadric quest for bothia?.. where does that start? I remember i got some enchanted bows an arrows when i cleared out a thieves den with maglir.
