The End of Han: The Three Kingdoms

EDIT: Wait, there are barbarians on the north border? Train men to defend the cities and send half of each city's garrison to defend against the barbarians. Do not attack them unless they cross the border, andthere is a good chance of defeating them (40% chance or more).

To King Yi
We have just suffered a devastating civil war. I propose that we reduce taxes on devastated regions of Wu Wei and assign a work-gang to repair the damage done by that Rebel Lee. I would agree to help refund any money lost from taxes from my own, admittedably small, treasury.

continue building the granary, train one archer, then build that 4th building, don't know what it is. (looks like a Confucian temple.) where did the workers go? also, let my city grow by farming the land.

Yeah, if you look closely at the picture of Wu Wei, you can see a barbarian warrior on the Northern border.

Yi Da Ren (Lord), I am already riding towards the frontier in an attempt to dissuade the Xianbei from preying on these lands.
Although it is best to stay wary in the event my words do not ring true.

Ah yes, the OoOoOoOo Shiney! Syndrome of trying to figure out all the stuff in a new Mod.

Does it have an online Civlopedia we can access?

It will be done. Feel free to augment the royal funds with your own, however you are not required to, and any money you donate will be of your own free will.

IC
King Yi:
It has come to this humble wanderer's attention that we have few trade routes open. If I may be so bold to suggest, I fear we risk stagnation even as our wounds from our civil wars heal. Might I suggest sending envoys to our neighbors, with the aim of broadening trading opportunities?

OOC
To everyone in general:
According to the city screens on Page 5, we have two +2:commerce: foreign Routes, with An Ding settling for a +1:commerce: one from our own capital.

Even if other factions choose to bring war to us soon and were to completely disrupt our many currently-open borders: I figure it'd help to send at least one scout (not necessarily a Scout, but some kinda-weaker unit) over roads to learn of their population and at least the lay of their lands that border us.

Also, are there missionary-style units for Division? What I really mean is: would the presence of such a unit during Open Borders spook the AI any less than actual Scouts, or Horsemen, or other military units would?

As mentioned earlier, my own recollection is rusty when it comes to some of the workings of Civ 4  Is actual first-hand exploration necessary for any human player who's after foreign trade routes, or does simple map-trading also do the trick?

Seems reasonable to me. (both IC and OOC)

Christos was thinking. He was in jail and everyone thought that he was defeated. But the battle had just started.

Sorry, no. You could always download the mod......:) And there are missionary units for Division.

DUN dun duh~n...

Perhaps I should have used my action paying your character a visit like this, then?

Just teasing. (For what it's worth, the guy in the bandages does get the last laugh, anyway.)

Uh oh... how's the situation for those of us on [civ3mac] ?
(Aw well, I think I already know the answer; I did see this sort of thing coming when I bought this machine, after all.)

And there are missionary units for Division.

That answers half my question from before :hatsoff:

The other half of my question is whether they're worth investing in for exploring open border territories. Does the AI take to their presence better than they would military units? If there is no difference in the AI attitude either way, then never mind. 'Might just be better just to stick to units with higher :move: , such as Horsemen. Or even plain old Scouts, if they exist in this mod, and if they take fewer hammers than Missionaries.

My character's already used up his action for now hobnobbing with renowned poet Li Hao Shi and renowned craftsman He Zong, probably talking about real estate, locations, tenure, Meritocracy, and the Eight Diagrams... Still, he might be up for exploring a bit himself, later on!

If we have open borders, it doesn't matter what unit goes into their territory. (I think, there's a reason I play on Chieftain ;)) If we don't have open borders, none of our troops can move into their borders without declaring war.
EDIT: Oh, I just realized everyone's posted their orders. I'll try and update either tonight or tomorrow.

ooc: I just want to say that it's a shame that we weren't allowed to choose characters from the actual RotK personages.
Because after Caragus posted that portrait of christos, I couldn't help thinking he would make a perfect Dong Zhuo after everything he's done so far.
I know people were protesting his playstyle in the other Feud but I'd go as far as to say it really brings great drama and spice to this one,
considering the scenario we're playing. :D

Based on the ones you posted though, Caragus, are we allowed to choose portraits for ourselves from the RotK XI portrait collection?

Hmmm, I don't know. I was thinking of saving the portraits for when someone became king, and choosing the portrait that I thought best suited their character (no offence christos). Let me think about it for a while.

Okay, here's what I have decided:
You are allowed to run a character portrait by me (through PM), and I will decide whether it's suitable (I want to avoid anyone having the same picture as a leader or hero in the game). If you are made king, I will issue you a new portrait, but you may revert back to your old one if you cease to be king anymore. Sound good to everyone?

EDIT: Didn't read the PMing part.
