Volume IV:

So begins the glorious Reign of Renewal. With King Yi at our head, our faction will go to glorious new heights.
But it is the great truth of life, that a wise king, in ruling his people fairly, will make enemies. And so it is now. But what matters is not what obstacles rise up in the path of King Yi, but how he deals with them.
The first of these was the appearance of a band of barbaric Mongols on our border. Inferring that they were probably Xianbei, Shao Yu rode out to meet them, on a pony he had bought for 18 gold, (Strizu Hao bought a horse for the same price) and convince them to move on. Luck was not with Shao Yu, however, as he rode out and found that they were in fact Xiongnu. He managed to beat a hasty retreat, and came out without injury.
On hearing the news of the Xiongnu, King Yi commanded Ma Chao and Ma Dai to each take a cavalry division, and crush the barbarians. So the two cousins rode out together.

On the eave of the battle, both wished to be the one to lead the charge, so they drew lots. And the lot fell to Ma Chao. So he fell upon the Xiongnu, and they were routed, the survivors fleeng into the desert.

Then, news came that Christos Lee had attempted to break out of jail. The guard bravely foiled his attempt, however, and he remains secure.
Having developed the art of creating a Code of Laws (which has yet to be written by our dear King Yi), the sages began studying the Ancient Dictionary.

After the miracle of the rain, Lobsang began his preaching, to both the former fugitives and the stunned rioters, and many of them became his disciples. They also teamed together, and built a bigger, more magnificent temple on his farm.
Also, Nigh Ture, governor of Tian Shui, fed many who had no food, and many of them expressed the desire to become his tenants. They are appealing to King Yi to make Nigh Ture's farm a fief, and allow them to be his tenants.
Again, the Xiongnu appeared on the borders, this time being repelled by Ma Dai.

Then, attracted by the glory of Liangzhou, another Great Craftsman took up residence in Wu Wei. His name was Zhao Da, and it is said he is trying to measure the circumference of the earth!

King Yi, seeing the state of the homeless, poured out much of his taxes, and managed to rebuild the homes of the beggars, ending the crisis.
That was when the greatest trial Liangzhou has yet faced came upon us. A messenger came from Li Jue, bringing a message of war! Li Jue, hating the virtue of King Yi, and jealous of his herds and many farms, was intent on ruling over Liangzhou! To many this was tidings of grief, but the Ma Clan, hearing the news, rejoiced, having desired to slay the rebel since he had dared touch Emperor Xian.

More Xiongnu were dispatched by Ma Dai.

That was when the soldiers of Li Jue were spotted near An Ding! Unfortunately, the worker did not notice that there were Xiongnu nearby, and was subsequently slain. (Caragus: )

Meanwhile, an envoy came from one Zhang Lu, head of the Rice Taoists. He seemed willing, if a little on the cautious side, to be friends.

Quests:
Zhao Da is trying to measure the circumference of the earth. To do this, he needs someone to go east, and stand by the sea, and then measure the position of the moon.
To open his academy, He Dong needs to be sponsored by five rulers, besides King Yi. He also requires marble, to give the academy the proper feel. Finally, he desires the aid of a scholar he once knew, named Feng Tong, but does not know where he is.
The war against Li Jue is going to be brutal. Will any characters march to war? Note: Li Jue's capital, where Emperor Xian is, is actually very close.

I ask the emperor if I can use the troops I recruited in Wu Wei and An Ding to lay siege to Chang An.

Governors requests (An Ding): Complete the crossbowmen, then start working on a courthouse. Assign the seventh citizen to the hamlet, the eighth one to a workshop.
Build a workshop after the courthouse, then start recruiting horsemen and crossbowmen.

Quietly, I settle my surviving family members and still-unemployed ex-employees along the green shores east of Wu Wei's greatest horse herds, where work and settlement is expected to expand in the future. Then, more boldly, I set out to seek trading opportunities in all major towns that can be found within the borders of still-friendly factions, in addition to leads on the whereabouts of Scholar Feng Tong.

I ask the emperor if I can use the troops I recruited in Tian Shui to attack Li Jue.

Finish training crossbowmen, build a courthouse then train horsemen. After the crossbowmen, move one citizen to the farm, so the city can grow.

Shao Yu seeks an audience with Yi Da Ren, pledging his service and asking to be put at the head of one cavalry unit and two infantry divisions (his own and a levied troop). He will join in the campaign against Li Jue and join the march on Chang'an if Yi Da Ren wills it. Hopefully, he can gain an official recommendation from Li Hao Shi for this position from their trials together during christos's reign.

I train one of my disciples to be the head of the temple there, when I head off to another city to spread the word.

I write a recommendation for Shao Yu for the command of a Corps consisting of three divisions.

I will help the war effort by organizing the local militia into larger units. i.e. each village has a set number to be conscripted; I'm offering to be the conscription officer and propaganda leader of this region, with King Yi's Permission.

His permission is granted.

Yi Da Ren (ooc: General Olaf), will you accept my pledge of service and my request to lead three divisions on Chang'an?

ooc: I should clarify that "Da Ren" is the period term for Lord/Superior.

I will. (OOC: Oh! I didn't figure out you meant me, I'm Chen Yi ;))

ooc: Yi = your surname; which goes first instead of Chen, per East Asian/Sinicized naming convention.
Da Ren = Lord/Superior; what an inferior/subordinate addresses you as, aka it's an honorific.
Yi Da Ren = Lord Yi.

EDIT: Oops, I for whatever reason assumed you were naming yourself in Western tradition, probably because of christos's character.
It should be Chen Da Ren as Chen is your surname.

Chen Da Ren = you.

EDIT2: Okay, I remembered now it was because you were referred to as King Yi,;
whichever character you would like/decide to specify is your surname, I'll call you by + the Da Ren honorific.

OOC: Chen's the surname. Named after a historical character involved in Genghis Khan's wars in conquest (I think). The real one was the leader of a tong of smugglers. Mine is based on him, but, er, more legit :D

(I feel ignorant now )

Correct :p

I couldn't remember if he was historical or not, so I just said he was and hoped I was right

I ask the emperor if I can use the troops I recruited in Wu Wei and An Ding to lay siege to Chang An.

Just repeating, as I don't know who you granted permission.

Your request and nightcreature's are both granted.

I march to Chang An with the troops I mustered.
