The Entire Thought Experiment

:culture:Sorry, please give me 24 hours:culture:

to the tune of "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees

From when he stops singing :)

That could take a while, disco has the nasty habit to get stuck in ones head.

All-righty then.

I'm going to be unavailable to play for about a month; up to my eyeballs with work for a week and then three weeks of overseas hol's, so I might edit the roster in light of this, and lymond being stuck under a glitter ball ...

Revised roster;

vranasm
pigswill
astre
Folket
Cam (skip to early Oct)
Sengir << Up
lymond << On Deck

n.b. Skips and swaps are allowed.

Variant check;

Get Back on that Rocket
Hero of Wounded Knee
icon14.gif

Hero of The Boxer Rebellion
icon14.gif

Possession
Devil's Kiss
Murder of Crows
icon14.gif

Bucking Bronco
Shock Jockey
icon14.gif

Charge
Undertow
Return to Sender

So I guess Sengir is taking over the banner in light of lymonds absence.

Sengir, when do you think you can have a PPP?

I'll get you a PPP tomorrow.

Sorry fellas for totally flakin' the last week or so. RL stuff rendered its ugly head. However, I should a passed off at least.

Sengir please do keep the war machine going. I'll try to take the next set.

PPP:
Switch a couple of cannon builds to Mace
Prepare to attack SB in a couple of turns when more unit capable of attacking have arrived; siege Moundville first. The stack should be big enough to take out the western half of SB's land.
Reinforcements form a new stack to intercept any counter-attack and attack the eastern half.

Meanwhile get the Astro in the trade Astre proposed and start building a fleet for China (Galleons + Frigates). By the time the fleet is done, we should be (mostly) done with SB as well.

Alternatively we don't declare an SB, and go straight for China and risk SB backstabbing us. We can't bribe Shaka on him as Shaka is warring already. Getting the fleet up will take a bunch of turns any way, so might as well get those units in action.

Also: what's with all those great people?
We've got 2 GA's, 2 GM's, 1 GSc and 1 GE. I mean, we're going to need 1 GM for Sushi, and we might want to keep the GE for MiningInc, but still leaves 4 GP for whatever we want to do with them. So I suggest we launch a GA with a GA right away (keep a GA + GS for a later GA) and send one of the GM's on a trade mission. If anyone knows which city is best, I'd much appreciate it, otherwise I'm going so sent him to the other continent (either NY or Chicago). Will need a Caravel for that though.

The Great People are being held for Golden Ages by-and-large, and we were waiting for Biology's population growth factor to make good use of the Golden Age (which we now have just acquired).

The Great Engineer (Henry Ford) in my view should be kept for Mining Inc., and as noted, one of the Great Merchants for Sid's Sushi. With nearly 20% of the landmass (and more as we wage war presumably) we'd be dead unlucky not to hit Aluminium for our spaceship, and keeping a Great Scientist for Aluminium Co. is probably not needed.

In terms of trade missions, all the land of the main empires is land-connected (except for China, Zulu island, and other small islands) so a Caravel arguably isn't needed, but admittedly could possibly speed up the trade mission by a turn or two.

We can ask Shaka to make peace with Washington. That will open up the option of bribing him against SB or someone else.

We also have to prevent Lincoln from getting a culture victory. I would be fine with leading China and prepare an attack against Lincoln after SB. It will take care of Possession achievement.

Make a plan for getting military science so we may get Bucking Bronco achievement as well.

we will get Msc by trade one day, no need to worry about that.

for diplo stuff, i need to reexamin the save, but i clearly remember that SB is preparing to attack us.

I always like when AI declare, it is make other AI less dislike you :)

so why not: declare china; take back our frontier city then keep most of our force near indian frontier waiting for SB to declare then use SB head to clean the floor!
in the between, use some troops to take islands. If we clean them one island after the other, we do not need that mutch troops but we'll need some fregates to clean china fleet first.

still need to check save anyway, i've looked the save a long time ago

Well, we need to go through war territory if we go max distance, that's why I suggested the Caravel.

@Folket: I´m not sure if I get in which order you want to attack the AI: China first, then SB then America?

@Astre: I think a China attack will be delayed by the fact that we can't get a fleet out and in place fast enough.

I argued for SB then America.

Chinese culture is an annoyance, SB stack is a short term threat, Lincoln culture is a médium term threat.

Sorry, RL happened today, will play tomorrow evening.

Played a short set until Medicine was in.
Launched a GA, declared on SB, who was kind enough to sacrifice most of his stack on my stack on the hill, which made taking the city a lot easier.
I captured Moundville, the stack has healed up and is ready to move out. I just took out another stack from the eastern part of SB's land, which had marched on Uruk. We should gather the units from Uruk, the units en route and some more reinforcements, then we can move out to the eastern part as well. There's worker (and another on the way) to get the Mine + Road back up.

I've traded for Astro, there are 2 frigates and a galleon done already, with two galleys ready for upgrading, and two more being build. With 1 or 2 extra frigates we should be ready to start our invasion of the China islands, though we'll need some units for that as well :D

GM is on a boat near Zulu land, I suggest sending him to NY, it's the furthest away from our cap.

I've set research to constitution which we'll need if we want to get to corporation, not sure we should tech it though, it's available for trade as well.

I think I forgot to check the cities this turn, so next player should pay attention to that.

Save's attached.

Thanks for the set Sengir :)
I think it's Lymond turn.
Do you want to take the burden or would you like another swap?

My point of view for next set:
For next turn, we have to found suchi! Where do we found it? cap seems like a good option but will not like the 3 pop whiped necessary for quick proparagation. maybe it is best option anyway just because of bank + market + grocery already built there.

Const is available by trade with boudi (steel vs const + money) I think we should take it
corp should be able to be trade next turn.
I would not try to tech it but trade it next turn.

for the rest, war economy: build cannon and troops and kill indians then chinese if enought boats are available.

We have 1 galleon + 1 in production + 2 just started. I would not start that many boats. we don't need that many troops to be ferried due to low strengh of chinese. 2 or gallions + our 2 galleys should be enought. more frigates could be more interesting to protect troops.
