Election Special Analysis: In 60AD, This terms elections have been well fought, in some cases extremely closely fought. The Presidential election has also brought the constitution into question at the time when the citizens are looking forward to the new Millennium.
During election, the eligibility of the candidates running for President (Octavian X, Dell19, MonkE) had been voiced. The discussion revolved around Section 1, Article 4 of the constitution that states Only existing council members may run for the Presidency. At the time, Dell19 did not hold any council position and MonkE was a governor and not a council member. It appeared that only Octivain X would be eligible to run.
The outgoing government agreed that this issue could be over looked provided that this crisis was resolved by amending the constitution. As part of this Presidential constitutional reform, the issue of who is eligible for Governor-ship is also under review.
Election Special Editorial: This terms Newspaper Editor election has been extremely close and I thank all those who voted for me. I also thank Octavian X for being a noble opponent and I hope, and expect, field reports from him. Please feel free to take up the additional position of restaurant Critic (with expense account) as compensation for running for President for 2 terms in two demogames and only achieving the office of Vice President for two different Presidents.
Election Special Comments: In 60AD, The following statement was released from the office of Leowind, Science Advisor to the Queen:
Sir Leowind announces his retirement as Science Advisor to the Queen today. He is most grateful for the opportunity to have served his fellow NUFians in this capacity for the past several centuries. He has enjoyed his two terms as Science Advisor, and wishes to express his warmest thanks to those who have voted for and supported his work over the past two terms. It is the good people of NUF who have really done the work he was quoted as saying. He furthermore pledges his complete support for Queen Jayne as she takes over the role of Science Advisor, with the utmost confidence in her abilities to take on this important position. He is hopeful that under her leadership the scientists of NUF will finally discover what it is about the stars that make us want to keep staring at them. Sir Leowind will be retiring to the small community of Neuma, where he has purchased a small bit of property and plans to spend the remainder of his days staring at the ocean by day and the stars by night.
