That's the message steam gives me when I try to run CiV+G&K.

It thinks it's already running, but it's not.

So I have to reboot my computer. Which is a huge PITA, because I have to boot 2-3 times to get a good internet speed (that's another story).

Anyone else getting this? I've never had so much trouble getting a game to start.

I hate to say this, but if your internet is that trustworthy, then you will probably have a lot of trouble downloading via steam.

If you are for sure that the games is properly loaded, have you tried to force steam into offline mode and try playing the game offline?

If steam will not go into offline mode, then for some reason, it is still trying to sync files. You could also try turning off steam cloud or any in game internet options, and then try turning them back on.

Downloaded G&K this morning. Having this same issue as well as others. Trying to fix one at a time but the I close the app (or at least i think i have) and try to reopen only to find out that steam says it is running.

Wait, it will not run, but you were playing a game?

Do you use steam cloud to save games???

You can load any game that is saved under your documents folder when you are in offline mode and playing the game. If you are offline, you cannot do anything that requires being online, like storing games in steam cloud and chatting with other steam players.

Please go through all the steps mentioned here. Hopefully something in there helps.

my problem is that many of the hints say to exit out of steam. However I can't do that because steam I need to close Civ 5 first. Which I can't do because I can't access the game... vicious cycle. Hopefully a comp reboot will work, since this just starting up with me tonight and I've been playing G+K since it's release, maybe it has to do with the new patch.

If you can't access the game, why is it then running?...I mean, if you can't close it, then it has to be running.
...which doesn't make any sense at the moment :crazyeye:.
