Is Civ VII "dumbed down" for ease of play on non-computer platforms?

I'm not sure if this is a joke post or not. Sometimes I can't tell. Games such as BG3 are on multiple platforms. And it's not a good example since that's a game dumbed down for the masses as well (though I like it). Pathfinder is a hardcore RPG, and guess what? Those are on consoles as well.

All of the console games I listed are playable on PC and all of the PC games I listed are playable on console.

As someone that usually plays single player with like 18 factions on huge maps, I don't find that having more factions makes the game itself more complex, it just means you might go to war earlier really.

If we take the diplomacy of 7 and say you start on a map of 18 factions instead of 5, sure 18 is more complex. But if we are comparing 7s diplomacy but with 5 factions vs civ 6 with 18, I think 7 is more complex, because you have many more options for influencing the other factions. Like, 5 swiss army knives to me is more complex than 18 just regular knives.
Also I've always found terrain to be pretty "samey", like each continent had unique resources yeah cool that was basically it. Maybe we will have bigger bonuses for off-continent resources or something like that, giving you more incentive again to interact with others.

Another reason for playing 18 is that I find it more immersive. However immersion and complexity are different topics.

I had to buy a new PC in 2005 in order to play Civ IV. I bought a new computer in 2012ish because Civ V played so badly on my old machine. I built a new PC in 2019 because Civ VI chugged bad on large maps. Maybe it's being dumbed down because of the PC players trying to play it on older machines?

I also played Civilization Revolution on DS. That was a true dumbed down version. I play Civ VI on PC and Switch. Do you consider Civ VI a dumbed down version?

I think the console release will have two major influences to Civ VII. There were probably UI considerations that were made to make it controller friendly. The second is that Firaxis now has more potential customers.
