The Grand Campaign! an IOT EUIV game

Just saying: You can reorder and change your claims as you choose. I'll set a lock at some point, after that point changing your claims nullifies them. But you have two weeks at the very least.

Right, if you're European.

Corruption is one of the things that are literally indifferent to tech groups. If you're afraid of the technology based corruption, this only happens if you yourself have a tech two levels ahead of another of your own techs.

Now there are other problems with corruption outside Europe - such as a hefty provisional difference in religion and that certain areas are really poor - so in practice there are some problems but the base mechanics have nothing to do with Western tech. Japan for example seems basically untouched and many areas that were very developed IRL are so wealthy corruption doesn't matter much.

My entire beef with corruption is that there are a ton of problems in practice, especially out of Europe, so they aren't really WAD.

Corruption and sailors are janky, but I'd still rather play the current patch for the new provinces and spies.

I've occasionally had bus with corruption where my corruption costs would spike to ridiculous levels with no reason. I remembering having to quit an Ottoman game I just started because my corruption costs were over 200 gold. And at its lowest setting, I still had to pay like 20 gold per month. So yeah, that game was pretty much unplayable due to this bug. Still, it's not that common, and corruption doesn't hurt too much as a mechanic. Can you explain why though it would non Europeans disproportionately?

- disproportionately poor areas (often colonial, many places in Africa for example) have difficulties paying off the colonial upkeep
- having low religious unity - which is disproportionally the case outside Europe until the Reformation starts, and arguably after if you succesfully became big.
- less flexibility in choosing your technological development is easier to manage when technologies cost less, which they do in the Western tech group

Lut that said many many people have reported no issue with corruption whatsoever, also RotW players.

I havent found corruption to be all that big an issue playing as Tyo, but then again, central africa doesnt have problems with religious unity or disproportionately poor/wealthy areas.

I bought EU4 on Steam not long after it came out, and discovered it ran horribly on my laptop. Still haven't got around to getting a hardware upgrade. I am, however, eager to see how this game progresses.

Hussite Bohemia ftw!!!

Due to a change of plans I won't be able to join in anymore. If and when the next session comes, I'd love to jump in.

Too bad erez87. Looking forward to have you join during our second session. :)

Info about the first session

- I will fire up Europa Universalis IV tomorrow at 7 PM GMT +1. The game takes a few minutes to load. Then I will immediately host a lobby. The game itself will start with whoever is present in the lobby at 7:30 PM GMT +1. If you're only available later, you can hotjoin.

- The session name is going to be IOTEUIV and the password is going to be argentina (no caps)

- I'll also ask you this, which I haven't said before - For this session, please change your Steam name to your CFC account name. So I for example will be named Angst. This will make it easier identifying people and easier to communicate. I don't expect this to be a problem for anyone.

- We'll take a short break every hour or something like that.

- I expect the session to last until 11 PM GMT +1 with the possibility of an extension of an hour or so if everyone's on board.

- The game speed will default at 2 - which is kind of slow but I'd rather do that than pause the game all the time and 3 is already a problem to manage against AI armies.

- Also, I'm really looking forward to playing with you guys. Definitely going to be a hoot. Might take a few beers for myself to enjoy during this thang. I'm so excited! :)

I guess I won't be uniting the English and French crowns :p, by the time I'll join you probably would have eliminated English continental holdings (unless you get rally unlucky). Anyway, have fun guys, I hope that I may join up later in the session!

I can't be there, since that would be 3 AM.

There's a chance I'll be about 30 minutes to an hour late, I was an idiot and didn't realize my pathfinder session wouldn't be over by the start of this.

Instead of being an idiot for that, I am an idiot for failing to understand timezones.

For those dropping out, should I let the countries be reserved for you? EDIT: I'm asking because your cancellation seems more permanent than the others,

and erez87 yea I'm probably going to win the war. I've never actually played France but I still expect to win it. I'd much like, however, to become your longterm ally. Think about it. :)

I might try coming for the first half an hour or hour just to try :p
