UPDATE: I started the following thread in the world history section a few days ago, hoping that some user that read a lot of books and articles might give me a good idea for the citylist issue: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=348008. I have not yet decided for anything, although yeekims idea with the tribes sounds interesting as it would lead to a harmonic and homogen list. Feel free to make further suggestions - preferably in the other thread so we have all ideas at one place.
 
I started working on my version of the Huns for my new mod and I wanted to give them a better name for their UB. So far it has been a bit difficult, but I have found the term "Hunlun Hunlu," but it seems that is a much older term for the Huns' Yurt. It might even be from when the Huns were said to have been in northern China which would have been hundreds of years before it seems you wanted to portray them. In fact they may not have even been the same Huns, that is still debated.

Here is THE ARTICLE, which seems to be from a Mongolian travel website. I don't know if that will be helpful or not.

EDIT: Out of curiousity, where did you get that UU from? I can't find it.
 
I have no really good idea for the hun UB. CivGold uses Cattle Herd as a Granary replacement for them, but i don't really like that either.
I never heard of Hunlun Hunlu before...

There are some very interesting comments of the Hunnic UU on Capo's Diplomacy thread.
If u remember, we gave much thought in this a few months earlier for this mod too.
Now i think i found an even better option what we did, probably this is the best solution:
(and this way u can also use all the great art Bakuel provided us)

I do understand why you want it to replace the Knight though, given the nobility connection. But to me, I think the Knight comes a bit late in the game for when the Huns histoically had their day. The timeframe doesn't seem to fit.
As I mentioned before, if it were me, I would have it replace the War Elephant with an increased Movement by 1.
A side effect of this, is it removes the slow War Elephant from the Hunnic arsenal. I would imagine an offensive machine that was heavily involved in mobile warfare, that was emigrated from a mountainous area (central steppes), would avoid using a slow animal. A second side effect is it gives the Huns an additional horse unit, again for a culture that "lived, ate and slept on horseback"
Also, having it replace the War Elephant will spread out the UU's a bit. Seems like a number of units replace the Knight (Arabia, Byzantium, Timurids), War Elephant has Khmer.

I think this is the best concept for the Hunnic UU. If i understand correctly, your main problem with this is if the huns do not get horses in the game, they would be doomed :)
But how about removing both the horse and the ivory requirement for this war elephant replacement UU?
I mean we are talking about the huns. I would like to see them having at least one type of mounted unit in every game. This way they would be able to build their UU even if they don't start neither near horse, nor ivory.
And of course, u could use Bakuel's units as Tarkan in the same way u wanted to, just replacing the elephants instead of knights...
 
I'm going to use it as a war elephant replacement (no ivory though) just to give the huns more horse units.

Reread the comments on Tarkan in this thread, and found that Ekmek suggested the same thing earlier.
Just we supposed this mean that the Tarkan needs horse, but Ekmek probably thought the same that i suggested now...
 
Uh... the UU again. I was actually satisfied with the current solution...

The Capos suggestion about the UB is good. I was also concerned about that there is no proven connection between the Huns of northern China and the european Huns, but the name you suggested is better then the current one in any case. Also, I am starting to think that the art you suggested may be the best solution.

It worth a try, but i have to admit, i'm fairly satisfied with the solution we did last time too.
So, if u are against the War Elephant UU, it's ok with me to leave the Tarkan as it is now...
 
News about Ruga:
He will be based on Genghis Khan, I will using his modifyed suit.
That's all changes on the plan, but I need to restart him.
Sounds good to me. If you like, you might post some pictures of your WIP here or in your own thread, just as you did with your current leaderhead in work and as Ekmek does with Kossuth. This ways, you have some feedback before it is too late and you release the final version.

Hey Nitram!

If u still want to do Ruga v2, I just looked at The_Coyote's modifications, and they would be a very good base for version 2.
I would really like to help making a final version with ideas and suggestions, if it works for you...
 
Of course. I just said to use that for the base of changes.
There may be/should be other changes as well. His hair a little bit (your colour was better), adding alpha channel, etc...

If u keep posting pics of the improvements, we can all help in deciding what would be the best look for him.
 
I think you should make Ruga's face look more dissimilar to Genghis Khan's.

Right now, he just looks like a reskin.
 
Not a reskin, but agreed that his face can be changed a little more. Ekmek made some good suggestions on the other thread for that
 
In approx. 2 weeks I'll be able to update the mod, besides of nitrams Ruga and the new UB art and name, the citylist should be updated. The most promising suggestion I heard, was using the names of the hunnish tribes as names or names of tribes having been allied with them. If you guys agree, I'd try to get a list from a user that is active in the history section of civfanatics. Would be cool if you guys would share your opinion here soon, so that I have everything prepared before I start working on the update. For same reason, I'll post a picture of the two buildings I found in geomodders mod that could be used IMO. Although The Capos building might be the best solution...
