The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

Picked up The Sims 3 for $15 on Amazon; fun so far. The graphics for individuals remain unimpressive, and not as focused as their predecessors (Sims 2) but the town is....alive. No loading screens: I just move back and forth across the map, and there are little buttons if I want to quickly focus on the house I'm playing, an individual Sim, or get a wide shot of the neighborhood. I can send one Sim to the bookstore, another to the park to fish, and a third to the local bistro and watch them all. The interface is largely intuitive: although I won't be abandoning Sims 2 for its sequel anytime soon, when I play it I do miss that ability to instantly go wherever.

Though it does get boring after you fulfill your life time wish and are at the top or the career ladder.

World of Tanks (free, but currently in closed beta)

it's decent.

Maffia 2

The game is really good although a bit disappointing. I understand the game is no GTA4, so they didn't have the whole open world experience, but they created this amazing setting and it is just such a waste to see a brilliant feature to be used just for nice views to accompany the game. They could've done a lot more with the world, without making it a GTA game. Almost finished now with the story, and it is just too short.

Verdict: Really good game, but wait till the price drops a little and some DLC comes available.

Isn't there a free roam function? In many of the missions for the first game you could pretty much just cruise around the city for a week before getting to your mission location/destination with no penalty. Plus there was a free roam mode too.

There is a free roam, but from what I've heard it's one of the weaknesses of the game and there are not very many things to do in free roam.

There wasn't a lot to do in the first game either, I think there was a gun store in Hoboton (spelling?) or somewhere on the east side of the city. Other than that it was just you driving around.

There are a few different stores (NOTE: All my information comes from watching it on youtube) and restaurants, and some collectibles to find, but other than that there isn't much.

GTA SA is a hella lot of fun, especially driving around the interstates on a motorcycle. Especially against oncoming traffic. :D

What's even better is doing it the opposite way: driving a fast car against traffic to crash into incoming motorcyclists. :mischief:

Finally downloaded Freeciv because I already had Civ2 for a couple years.

Wow, much better. :)
Since I already know how to play Civ2, learning Freeciv is easy.
In fact, I may even do an AAR in this sub-forum (away from the almost-dead Civ2 forums).
But I have one question: what is you guys' picture uploading software? I don't want all my pictures to be in attachments; do you guys use Photobucket or Imageshack to link to your pics?
