The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

Same here. I keep on trying to convince myself that it isn't terrible, and the next patch will fix all the problems
I played it through once on normal. I thought it was a good game, very high production values. It lacks something from D2 but I wouldn't say it was a waste of money or terrible, as a game...

I've now reached the second stage of the last battle in FTL at least three times on easy and lost. It's still fun, 15 hours logged, but succeeding on easy, once it's done, will probably be enough for me.

I'm currently willing go invest time and money in one game and I'm interested in two.

Question: Dishonored or X-Com ?

Borderlands 2 recently. Good game, improvement on the first one in many aspects, and very fun to play with friends (though anything would be).

I do wish that the field of view on the PS3 version was a little broader. I've strained my eyes quite a bit while playing through it.

I can really, really vouch for Dishonoured. It's a fricking fantastic experience both in gameplay and the world it inhabits, and definitely deserves all the praise it's getting. You likely won't get as many hours out of it as you will from Xcom though. I got over 20 hours from my first playthrough, but I went the slow and methodical route and if you rushed you could easily finish it in a lot less. But there's so many ways to go about things that it's very open to repeat playthroughs, for what that's worth.

I haven't played Xcom, but I think it's probably hard to go wrong with either.

Is Dishonoured sort of like Ass Creed but with magic and steampunk, or is it something else entirely? Either way, I'm going to get it, it's just a question of when.

Well, I went with X-Com.
Doshonored looks promising, but I heard it's pretty short and the strategy nerd in me was victirious once again.
I've never played the original and I'm not very far, but I already think it's the best game I've bought this year (maybe tied with first-week Mass Effect 3 before the whole series was RUINED FOREVER by the endings).

Picked up BGII Complete at good ol' GOG. Got sick of waiting for BG:EE.

Got Natural Selection II! It's great to play the game again. :D

Got Orcs Must Die! 2 and it is extremely good. I have so much fun playing it, like Heavy-killing-all-the-Blus fun.

Not exactly a new game, but after having finished Emperor: ROTMK, I'm going to resume my playthrough of the impressions citybuilders with Zeus: Master of Olympus. I don't know if I've ever formally finished all the campaigns in the vanilla, let alone the expansion. I think the farthest I've gotten is the tail end of the Trojan War, so it should be fun.

Wasn't the Trojan War the last and hardest of the vanilla campaigns ?
I didn't like the final campaigns of Zeus & Poseidon because they had too much emphasis on military.

Anyway, have fun! They are great, funny games. :)

Just got Spec-Ops: The Line.

A really interesting game I must say. The graphic engine is a bit old, but the visuals are stunning. And (finally!) we have an action title that is not about mowing down endless streams of enemies with your patriotic guns. I am only at chapter 6 but REALLY impressed what they have pulled off. Maybe there is hope for intelligent gaming after all.

Yeah the Trojan War one was the last of the "real missions". For the most part I didn't mind military in Zeus. The rabble feature means you aren't in a race against time to get military up and running like it is in some of the Emperor or Caesar III levels (last 3 Song-Jin missions, I'm looking at you). And conquering is just a matter of getting an elite block up. Eventually you just hit a critical mass of population and hoplite/cavalry companies that make it more of a tedious waiting game than a challenge (The later Persian-conquering missions in Athens through the Ages being a notable exception). I think I stopped the Trojan War campaign after I got to one specific colony where military was a requirement, as was summoning Theseus, who is the most pita Hero to summon (aside from Jason) in the game, and they gave you basically no room to build. Yeah that one was fun >_>.

Also I don't think I've gotten too terribly far into any of the Poseidon missions, so I'm looking forward to giving those a whirl.

Poseidon is fun too. Again, it's last campaign is very Trojan War like - so i that's the only one i didn't finish.
