The Immortal Challenge 3: The Gathering Storm

I've spent the last couple of days reading through your other chalenges aelf, very informative. Thinking about trying a few games on Emperor myself so it makes sense to read up as much as possible about how to survive. Keep up the good work!

At least you haven't got people saying "I'm thinking about unsubscribing from this thread" anymore, like in the first EMC (although acidsatyr one of the early doubters to his credit soon came back with excellent advice and commentary after ranting a bit about your early MM).

It takes a lot of effort and bravery to post your games publicly for all to see.

Yes this was harsh.
To be honest, Aelf is a much better player now than he was in the first EMC (he already was a hell of a diplomat though), making a lot less :hmm: moves (are there still some?). That's why he now plays and wins immortal :goodjob: .

Thanks. Most of the original detractors became valuable supporters ;) :)

I'm raring to do a BTS challenge on Emperor, which is why I was so pissed off when I found out that nowhere in this place has the game yet, ages after it's released everywhere else in the world :(

I think everyone who has read through aelf's threads has become a better player. I'm reading the Freddy one now (you spoiled it a bit by saying it's a loss though - on the first page! - I will read the rest to see if it is an honourable one anyway, probably more informative anyway), and I see Harbourboy saying in that thread he hasn't won a game on Immortal in March '07, he's a QM now and one of the most persistent HOF gauntlet players there is. He even won the Korea Emperor domination game last month after something like 20 attempts.

I know I wouldn't have been able to pull off my monarch win without all the advice on this forum. Amazingly I tried the Korea emperor gauntlet (my first emperor game) and survived until Huayna launched in 1918 or something, but nearly had a diplo win before that but messed it up by trading with someones worst enemy (stupid mistake). If I had read your first EMC's aelf I might have won it and my first diplo win and a win on Emperor on my first attempt.

2nd emperor attempt yesterday... not so good. Genghis'd ;)

Hi aelf! I'm a long-time lurker. Normally I have nothing to add. Now I think I do.
I don't know how good your connection is, but, if it's at least ADSL, you could buy the game from Steam (like I did) or from Direct2Drive (like others did). It wasn't released here in Brazil too (yeah, we both live in the jungle :p), but I'm now able to play. You only need an international credit card! :mischief:

That I do not have. And parents over here are generally not supportive of computer games, even more intelligent ones like Civ, so no hope of borrowing their cards. I'd just have to wait for this week or so

And do join the discussion next time. It's fun :)

Do Stalin!

Guess, what. After 3 weeks of waiting, the distributor still hasn't released BTS over here. Stores claim that it kept delaying the release week after week for some reason. Obviously, something is really wrong. If the problem is due to the distributor, Take Two picked the wrong company to sell the game here. If it's Take Two that has not been sending the stock over, then they are clearly not very interested in selling the game here. And even with the late release, I bet buyers here will have to pay the full price of a standalone game, which is often more expensive compared to the price in the US. Any wonder that less legitimate copies are popular?

Well, this has really put me off buying the expansion. I might just decide to invest the money on some other game that is looking good, like Bioshock, which is probably going to be selling at about the same price anyway.

Someone hurry up and buy him the Direct2Drive version of the game :p

I refuse. I want my box and manual and everything!

More seriously, I also need a disc.

Give me a adress and I'll send you my own slightly used BTS disc  ( price to be discussed.... )

More seriously: you'll be better without the manual... It's even more buggy than the game...

You are somewhere, where things aren't what they seem, right?:mischief:
There is probably an underground network of Knights Templar distributing BtS copies right now, without you even noticing!

More seriously, though: do not leave a bunch of lives over here void of content and in misery!
Why not begin another Warlords challenge?

Checking Aelf's Public Profile he's busy with his school work, he'll come back in his own time.
