Come on, don't you guys think someone new and not featured in many (or any game, really) would be fun? Canada may not be an ancient power, but we're an economic power and used to be decent militarily (Vimmy Ridge, Juno beach, beat back American invasions ). I just think it would be fun.

As for Israel, I wouldn't be opposed to it, but hopefully it would be an ancient incarnation. I think modern Israel has too many issues, and they'd have to rename it to something like "Americam Colony #0001".

Actually, my friend, the only country who has ever invaded Canada is the United States. I'll let you in on a secret, we beat them every time they tried.

And, as it's been pointed out, Canada is the second largest country, land mass wise, after Russia.

As a Canadian, I would be honoured to have Canada included in Civilization, but I think our country is too young to qualify for the core 4000 BC to 2050 AD game. We simply haven't been a nation long enough, even though our roots run deep.

On the otherhand, in a WWII scenerio we deserve to be represented - independent of Britain inspite of being a loyal member of the British Commonwealth. The Aussies deserve recognition in a WWII mod too.

But Canada in the core game, nice but nah, like padawans we are "not ready"

I'm in favor of...

Austria: Hate to say it, but I'm a fan. I'd rather have the Austrians at their height, though, and not Austria-Hungary, which was a weaker state in decline. In addition, I'd like the Germans renamed Prussians, but I know I'll have to do that myself.

I haven't really picked any others. Well, actually, I was pushing for the Maya and Byzantines, amongst others, but they have already been added. So now I'm looking for a few new candidates to support. I'd say Canada hasn't been independent long enough to qualify--although the Canadians and US are of similar age since colonial times, the US struck out alone over the Canadians sticking with Britain. Both good approaches to survival, but only one gets you into Civ.

Khmer (good choice. would be my fourth favourite)

I think America has a slightly warped world view- you see, most countries don't go stomping around the planet pissing everyone off, so people don't feel the need to invade them, regardless of where they are.

So if Israel is American Colony #0001, what do you suggest we refer to Canada as? American Colony #0002? Or joint American-British Colony #0001? And I'm not sure that Canada is truly an "economic power" either... It has a stable economy, but not sure that I'd consider it a power...
