Any other Briton glad Chris Huhne has gotten it in the neck?
His actions are a disgrace. The way he treated his family - especially his wife - in all of this. I'm glad he won't be in parliament any longer. Anyway it turns out that he forced his wife to get an abortion - which she has regretted since. The Liberal Patriarchy.

I didn't think it was possible that another MP could reach the fabled heights of contempt as I have for George Galloway. Huhne is giving him a run for his money.

Yeah. Chris Huhne. Corrupt or what? Still, he just got caught didn't he? There's plenty of other cabinet members who are at least equally hypocritical, I'm fairly confident.

But you have contempt for lovable George? I mean, I know he's Scottish and everything, but still he's one of the least corruptible politician I've seen. Just because he openly took funding from Saddam - allegedly?

Imagine if 500 votes had gone the other way in the Lib Dem leadership election in 2007 and he'd become deputy prime minister instead of Nick "Integrity" Clegg. That would've caused a stir! Still, he's a terrible man that got exactly what he deserved.

While we're on the subject, I'd like to go on the record as registering an extreme dislike of George Galloway

The end of a glorious political career.

Link to video.

It's generally a mistake talking to anyone from Rochdale, in my experience. I have relatives there.

Would the Lib Dems have gotten as high a percentage in the 2010 general election if Huhne had been leader over Clegg?

I'm unsure about the funding but his affliation with a genocidal dictator starts the alarm bells ringing. Also: stirring up race hatred and division in his last two constituencies just to win votes - completely putting down any semblence of a united community.

Just google his name, he is practically involved in every sort of controversersy dreamed up by any far left angry-because-the-soviet-union-fell dingbat.

The only reedemable feature he has, is his incredible rhetorical ability, it can be a joy to listen too.

Yeah. I agree pretty much.

He's certainly not shunned controversy. But all in all his record is a very mixed bag: some things quite good and apparently principled; other things appalling.

Am I the only one who noticed this thread's gone past 1000 posts?

Indeed you aren't.

Do you want to start a new thread? No one else seems keen at all.

Well I maybe get into trouble.

Well what's the number after XXI?

Er. XXII.

Is that a trick question?

edit: to be fair, Roman Numerals can get very confusing when you get to the 500's and 1000's. I think that's why people prefer Arabic numerals these days.

But I'm confident XXII follows XXI.

Ignore Mr Hobbs.

I would like to separate Chris Huhne from 'the Liberals' - he's just a disagreeable character; that's no reflection on his party, except that it wasn't clever enough to spot him earlier.

Is God save the Queen or Long may she reign over us, Prince Charles's least favourite part of the National Anthem?
