The mechanics of banning

Another thing, if you have gotten Banned, do you get some kinda noticification, a PM, E-mail, something? 'Cause if you were Banned, and didn't realize it, then tried to Log in, and couldn't, and started getting violent . . . things could get nasty . . .
Like had been said, a PM will be sent out. If you've been banned, you can log in, but can't post and can still read your PMs, I assume. I have no personal experience so I wouldn't know.

Unless it's a mod whose PM's you don't want to receive. You can't put mods on your ignore list. ;)
Posters who disabled their PMs are automatically viewed as with something to hide... at least by me...

Perhaps you don't want to communicate with anyone beyond the forums.

I recall my privacy being invaded with a warning to my private email once...I took real offense to that!

I even considered taking a complaint to some server providers...:)

Well, you can disable your email all you want - since some accts are registered with dummy emails... Just not PMs.

The most irritating thing is when you ban someone, then can't PM them, and then they come back and scream 'Why have I been banned!? Why, why, why!?'

If you get any harassment PM, pls report them and action will be taken. ;)

Maybe we should ban you for a couple days so you can find out, and report back to us?

Sorry, couldn't help that. Hehe

Under 'banned by moderators, I believed that a poster is restricted from posting or editing posts.
'Perma-ban' should stop all used of the forum
'Temp-ban' I am not sure about, but I believe it restricts more than 'banned by moderators'.

Getting a bit confused with the terminology of banning categories here:

Is 'Perma-ban' equivalent to 'Indefinite Ban' and are there then only 3 categories?

i'm guessing the reason we haven't had anyone in here to tell about banning is they either don't venture into site feedback (i'm not going to the land of the peolle that banned me!) or are scared to admit it (no one will think of me the same again!)

We only do the first, TF then changes the category as he desires.
Addendum: We can *request* that a ban be made into a Temp, or Perma-ban, but it is finally TF's call. Serious, repeat offenders are discussed as to what ban is appropriate.

Has a perm ban ever been overturned?

I believe so.

Ok, ok, sorry, I get the message ainwood.

Sorry for any troubles caused . . .
