The Mole: S&T's First Game Show!

 I may have cleared out Next War, when I was clearing stuff out to get above 1 GB of hard drive space...

...Does anyone have a download link?
Couldn't find the download link, so I'll upload my own file. It will be up in a bit.

No, you literally cannot get a victory. There is no way, once you complete the final objective, to achieve victory, unless you worldbuilder a city in and build some wonder.
really? Why? I will start a game of afterworld right now to prove you wrong.

if your going to upload mods you might as well upload
C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4CivicInfos
C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4GameSpeedInfo
and
C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\Units\CIV4UnitInfos

then I can play unmodded civ...

edit: 884 KB for the lot, so it should be a rather easy upload/download

We are using vanilla RFC
Can someone please post a link to the Mod so that we can all get the same version as each other?

Anyway, if you download a newer version of a Mod, can't you still use the original version of the Mod? I mean, think of how many versions of RFC hoplitejoe has on his computer...

At least that fact applies to using the Hall of Fame Mod--I can play different versions of it with different versions being concurrently installed (installed at the same time) on my system.

So, you'd think that anyone would be able to play the out-of-the-box version, right?

Okay, wait, there's another page and now you guys are talking about the Next War Mod.

I'm pretty flexible and don't really care which Mod we use, as long as, if it's not an out-of-the-box Mod, someone provides a download link.

Afterworld was easy to win, by the way... and no, you don't need to use the World Builder to do it. Do a forum search--there are many people who have won it legitimately (I was one of them, but I am hazy on the details since it was so long ago).

Oh yeah, I'll sign up. :D

We are most likely using Next War, which came with BTS.

I could never understand what to do.

Yeah, I never liked it much.

As for Afterworld...

Basically, you just wanted to advance really slowly, so that your units would "gang up" on the enemies.

Then, there was a promotion system, but it highly rewarded giving the +1 movement promotion (which you could get 3 of for your units), since each unit started with somewhere around 6 to 8 movement points, and each movement point could be used as an attack...i.e. like a Blitz-based unit you could attack multiple times... and you could attack from a distance using a gun, so you didn't even have to worry about being attacked back all that much, if you could kill the enemies quickly.

It was only when you fought hand-to-hand (more like how Civ 4 battles are normally displayed) where you could get wounded, so, if you grouped your units, you could take out most enemies at a distance and thus be immune to being hurt in most of the engagements with the enemies.

There were "healing packs," but I ended up having way too many of them and rarely ever needed to use them.

I have yet to play Next War. How do we win? Will we use the same Victory Conditions as the regular game or are there other ways to win? Does the Apostolic Palace still get used? Do we start in the Ancient Era but essentially have an extended end-game? Can you launch a Spaceship at the same time as the regular game or has it been extended to a point where you need additional techs to build it?

its exactly like Civ 4, but the game goes on for an extra 50 years and there are a 15ish additional techs and more units and stuff and a new era.
But before you get to the future techs its identical to civ 4.

I am in. This looks fun :goodjob:

Yeah, basically what Ilduce said. It's vanilla BtS, with an extended future era.

I'm in!

Maybe we can have the third message of this thread updated to reflect the fact that we will be playing Beyond the Sword using the Next War Mod as it came out-of-the-box, meaning that anyone who has BtS can participate.

Most people on the forum think of "Vanilla" referring to "Civ 4," i.e. without the Warlords or BtS expansions in use. Saying "RFC Vanilla" is not all that enticing to people from other forums that happen to get drawn here, since they will think that the game will not be played using the Beyond the Sword expansion and thus are likely to get quickly turned away.

We could play with only seven people on the roster.
