Bornslippy, since everyone would have to play from the same save after first round, that model would not work. I am ready to link to the IC, Tycoonist. And I'll try to participate.
ok there seems to be quite a lot of support for the immortal cookbook idea, so i will start it up soon (possibly today), if no one has any objections. some things to consider:
1. do you simply want a best-save format?
2. do we limit some players (i'm looking at you rusten) or just accept better saves?
2. I'd say leave it open to all comers. Given a tough map, even the best players shouldn't be able to build an unbeatable position as early as we've been seeing in the MC. I suppose there could be a problem if one player consistently posts saves that are clearly way ahead of the others, but I doubt that'll happen.
One more thing: I strongly advise that you ban players from voting for their own saves.
It's all too easy to notice all the strengths in your own game, while overlooking many of those in other people's saves. And I suspect this could be worse with top players, who've refined certain tricks and strategies to the point where playing any other way seems weak in comparison (an obvious example being the whole CE/SE thing).
I would prefer a deity cookbook if we are taking just the best saves all the time... Also random leader seems like it could be too kind at times, pick leader after voting or something but the first game can well be random, standard, normal speed should be the "standard" settings, epic makes it too favourable to the human(and also is quite alot slower ). But hey it is your game so do whatever you feel like. Fractal is also fine but you could also shake things up with the random map script from time to time(or just determine the map the same way as leader).
Thanks for the initiative Tycoonist, I might play in the IC if I'm havin a good civ day, even though the starts seems hard. Will link your game in the OP.
