The new rules - long form

Well hopefully version 2 of each will be along soon.

Just bumped, none of the posts have edit timestamps (I just checked).

I'm making edits off line.

Happy to proof read before publishing if needed.

About this one:

Spelling and grammar
English is not everyone's first language. Not everyone has perfect language skills. As such, don't comment on other peoples' ability to spell words correctly or construct sentences. If you cannot understand their meaning, you may let them know in a nice manner.

If someone messes up a sentence/word so that it means something completely different than what you'd expect from them, can you let them know?

That's not already in them?

I mean if they say something that makes sense when it means one thing. But you don't think that's what they meant. Can you say that?

Do you mean 'invisible mode'? If so, it'd screw our mafia structure (editing posts isn't allowed)
No I've moved a copy to Word and am editing the rules in that program. I don't like to use invisible mode.

Its something i've helped with NESing rules for Beej before :)

Something I am sure he can attest to my skills :king:

Unless the forum plans to add and enforce a COPPA agreement, I highly recommend adding to the forum rules that you must be 13 years or older to register and post. No reason to allow that violation of federal law, and it would be useful for forum members to know separately from the generic "no violations of any law allowed."

COPPA is a law in the US regarding minors on the internet, isn't it? What does it say (in a nutshell)?

They cant get info from people under 13 without parental permission. Since parental permission is such a pain to get some boards just dont let under-13s sign up.

Rules version 2 is up in staff for a last look before coming back here. This version hasn't changed much; we just added a few items left out previously.
