The NOTW Information Thread

The big 1) How does an age 'conclude?' Killing all of the 'mafia?' Then what happens the next age? New 'mafia,' new roles for everyone?
An age concludes when a team achieves victory and no one else can. For example, in the Age of Dragons, it may be the evil gods' goal to kill all the good gods, and it may be the neutral gods' goal to prevent both sides from being eliminated. Once the good gods are eliminated, they can no longer win, the neutral gods fail, and the evil gods achieve victory. The age would end and the Age of Magic would begin. In the next age, my plan is for everyone to get a new role, with some being more powerful than others, as detailed earlier. So, yes, new "mafia" and new roles for everyone.

My question is this:

Meaning, at one time, every person would be in a different time period?
No. Every person would be in the same time period; although, once you die, you get your role for the next age. You will then train to learn more powerful spells.

I would help design and GM it.

Also, could we have a separate GM for each Age, so GMs can play in the game too?

This sounds like a great idea, and I hope we can go a long way with it. It sounds like it could take a while to make, though. That doesn't seem like too much of a bad thing, but if we want to make it number 50, we wouldn't be playing it for at least a year.

Well, that was just a suggestion. It could be hosted as soon as the design team finishes it.

Alright, that's what I figured. Now the next, well, it's not really an issue, more of a balancing complication:

2) What does training entail? Have you fleshed the specific mechanics for it out yet? This right here, both the idea and possible in-game implementation could be game-breaking in multiple ways. In a very plain in simple way, if I'm mafia in game two, I'm killing the guys who were lynched/killed early in game one...

EDIT: I'm also fine with any NOTW design and discussion here. If you want to start a group, go for it, but by no means do you have to.

Should we create a social group or something to minimize clutter of this thread?

That would work. From what I'm getting so far, it seems like everyone's in support of it. When do you think it should be created?

Training would entail learning new spells. As in the actual FfH, as you level up with more experience, the stronger you get. For example, training in Earth could allow "Stoneskin" which, just like in the game, would give you a bonus in defense. This would make it very, very hard for mafia to kill these archmages.

I think it would make everything more organized and easier to discuss.

Create it whenever, lubber. The sooner the better.

Created. PM if you want to join (it's invite only). Keep in mind that if you join as an official GM even for a second you're ineligible to play.

As for my mini-NotW game, I have to get up early tomorrow :cringe: so i won't be able to start it tonight. These delays are going to be my bane… :(

I already have five GMs including myself, so I won't be adding any more. You can still offer suggestions in this thread, though.

I hope you're not including me as a GM - I can't and won't have the time to devote to hosting a game of any magnitude for the foreseeable future. I'm in there mostly because I'm interested/curious how all of the mechanics get figured out and to offer my advice.

Zack, as there are 5 players left in my game, you can/should probably start sign-ups for yours
