I've decided that I'm the HRE, but now I'm having trouble deciding if I should be Catholic or atheist.
 
Byzantium is catholic. We agreed a union with the pope just before the turks take over constantinople.

Orders:

All income into armies, use the armies to expand in minor asia and greece and have the rest income ( if something is left.) to go to Infrastructure.
 
Levante agrees to ally the Catholic nations of our world.
 
Yeah, I thought that too. He's just bandwagoning now. christos, it goes against the majority of the people in your territories to declare your country Catholic. It is, frankly, unrealistic. However, I would be more than willing to work with our Eastern Orthodox brothers.
 
ooc: Its not. There were 2 unions with the catholic chucrh in RL. Also one emperor declared union, and his son, after the death of his father, declared that byzantium was again orthodox.

Right now i do the union, like the RL emperors did, about political reasons. I am the only nation in europe with orthodox religion and russia doesnt exist to help me and there is no balkan nation.

So i will be crushed and i will have no allies.

ooc: maybe... you know.. you should ask what the other party thinks about such a union??
 
What rome thinks about the proposed union?
 
The Emperor-Pope will let any country join the Catholic Alliance, provided they convert to Catholicism.
 
Or you could just realize that religious wars in IOT are as rare as limited wars.
 
I will work with our Orthodox brothers, as I have previously stated.

As a RL Catholic and someone who knows quite a bit about papal history and disposition it is uncharacteristic to say that a Pope would be completely unwilling to ally with Eastern Orthodox patriarchs except at the height of the schism... which IIRC (I need to look it up again) was in the 14th century or the 12th.. I don't remember off the top of my head. But then again I'm generally uncomfortable with you being Pope in the first place.. but whatever, I can deal.
 
It was the 11th, by the way.

Also: Russia is a kingdom and a majority of the populaiton is Orthodox.
