The preview thread

Size 2 seems to be over too:

I think that this is shaping up to be one of my best :)

I hope you don't mind me being frank if I do have some criticism.

a) The two longhouses are perfect. :)
b) The round building isn't Germanic at all, it should be replaced. :(
c) The stone stage still looks wrong for a Norse / Germanic settlement. :(
d) The houses are nice, but too square. They should be longhouses, too (the cattle and the people lived under the same roof, so the houses were almost always oblong). :(
e) Roof textures are top notch. :)
f) So are the walls of the houses. :)

I posted them a little while ago ;)

Damn... just saw that. So I guess I'm too late. :(

I guess my input wasn't so helpful, then.

Hey Ares, sorry if these dissapointed you :/

I already told you, though, that the stone stages would stay, for uniformity with the rest of the sets.
Same goes for the round building :)
And the same for the shape of the houses: they are not exactly square, but i could not make them too wide since then they would look too different from those in the other sets.

Oh well, i hope you will not be so displeased so as to end up not using the set :D

I was disappointed that you took down the medieval set because I came home after a long weekend of work and had NO CHANCE to download it. :( That was very annoying. I was looking forward to use it!

I will use your ancient set, too, but I'm probably replacing the stage and the walls. ;)

Please, could you send me the medieval set? I really wanted to help you with all the research because I wanted to use it in my mod, and was looking forward to see how it looks on my new terrain. :(

When I was at work, I was checking the forums from time to time just to see how it developed... and then came home and there was no set. I felt like the little boy Santa forgot.

Sorry, i didnt realise you had not dled it. Im sure some people have it (eg Badkharma and others who posted in that thread). I do not have it though, i wrote the files for the ancient over the medieval euro

I am becomming all the more a perfectionist, and i cannot keep things on the site which i do not like utterly. But of course it just shows the different standards, since i sometimes do not mind slight errors in the historicity of the sets, as long as they look good.
Let me remind you that you had, due to your special interests, a very specific set in mind for the ancient germanic, but was happy to get the chinese one which had a number of errors ;)

Ok, does anybody have the dark roofed medieval set and is able to email it to me? PM me please for details.

I'm pretty sure I got it. I really hope I did. If I have it when I get home I'll email it to you.

Why on earth did you take down the medieval Norse set? It was great, I thought. I love what you're doing here but this posting stuff and then taking it down the next day business is becoming a little rediculous :p

Also, I really like the Ancient Medieval set. Like you I'd rather they are uniform rather than historically accurate so I like having the stone stage in all sets.

Cheers,

Nick

Well, if i do not like something, i take it out. No need to make a fuss ;)

Although i regret the fact that some people who did like it a lot missed the chance to dl it.

Well I liked it a lot, and, thankfully I did download it. I wasn't sure but I've checked and I have it. How about leaving stuff up for at least 2 or 3 days to make sure those who really want them can get them before taking them down?

If anyone else wants it I'll be happy to email it to you, assuming Kyriakos has no objection.

Anyway I'm sure you'll replace it sooner or later.

Cheers,

Nick

Thank you :)

Well i did take out three cities, but the Byzantine one will get replaced with another, better Byzantine, The Chinese was supposed to be ancient asian, and it got replaced with another ancient asian that looks better/is more historically accurate, and i plan to release some other medieval 'euro', probably a french, italian or english one...

I like it. Only one cathedral per town, I guess? The color of the roofs looks a bit too bright for european cities, it could be a little darker. :)

On second thought, is there any smaller french medieval romanesque church i could model? I will keep the Brioude one for size 2 :)

If it is somewhat square (i guess entirely square is unlikely) it would help a lot :)

Also some pics of french houses would be great, since i only have a couple.
