I can't find the current ask an economist thread:
It was closed down. Too many people flaming, that's what I heard.

Why do US economics statistics exclude farm labor / income?

I'd also like to know. What does excluding 3% of the labor force from certain economic indicators do?

Actually, Bugger actually refers to a homosexual Bulgarian (derived from "Bulgar") :smug:

And here was me thinking the root of the word derived from French terms for the Cathars > deviant sex (bestiality/ homosexuality/ anal sex) > specifically anal sex regardless of the genders involved. Or species come to that.

But as a dyslexic who got a D for GCSE French I'm sure you'ld know better than me Jacobin :mischief:

Farming is excluded from some common statistics used in economics because the seasonal nature of it conflicts with the cyclical nature of other parts of the economy. Because of that including agriculture causes the other parts of the statistics to be misrepresented. The second reason that food and energy is broken out of other economic statistics is that the prices fluctuate differently from the changes in prices in the rest of the economy.

Thanks man. :)

Still, I haven't had an answer to my previous question. Would a mod kill me for using said word?

You can still call me Sillius Soddus :)

It was from Bulgar because that was a term for Cathars, who were theologically related to the Bogomils, who were either Bulgars or near enough to the Bulgars for the medievals not to care.

Bougre (French for Bulgar) -> Bugger

They considered Bogomils homosexuals because of their renunciation of procreatory sex.

Recommend me something to watch! Preferably something, well, good. At the moment i'm looking for some kind of -punk, cyber, steam, whatever. A good sci-fi, horror, or comedy would be good, in that order of preference though. Language doesn't matter, nor does its availability, the internet is a wonderful place. I'd like something newer, so within 10 or so years, but if you really recommend it then the age doesn't matter. Thankya!

They put some kind of batter on it, freeze it, take it out and throw it straight in hot oil, and very quickly take it out and throw it back in a really cold freezer.

Cathars => deviant sex, huh.

I am somewhat disappointed yet also intrigued at the new avenues of life this opens up for me

No, they were not deviant. Orthodox Christians (as in not heretical, not meaning Greek Orthodox) painted the Cathars/Bogomils as homosexual to discredit them (even as many priests and monks were very sexually deviant themselves).

Therefore it means 'to sodomise', since that's how it's used.

Words can and do have more than one meaning. Sorry you can't comprehend that! :) It also means "a worthless person" and "a small or annoying thing", those two being the offensive uses of the words. Also, I was specifically referring to words of offense.

Another question. Is there any job that you could become a millionaire doing other than lawyers doctors and business? It seems the only people that become rich are either some entertainers of some sort or punk business people who do nothing but move money around for other people's ideas and work.
While you plot to get rich quickly, keep these in mind: time and compound interest. Start saving early and regularly.
