Never heard the world.. i'd try to say:

Stew youves ant

why does this say?

since 1453 İSTANBUL ulan dallama sen anca amerikanın finosu olursun hırbo

How do I pronounce this in English:

Stuyvesant

I'm guessing it's this: stoo ves ant

I've heard it pronounced as: Steye-ves-int

As in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

I've always said Stuyvesant pretty much as if it were Styvesant. I couldn't tell you that that's certainly correct though.

So my rearview mirror fell off. Yeah, idk why that happened, but anyway, I only have duct tape keeping it up now, and because thats both temporary and extremely unfashionable, what do I need to get that thing back up?
That's very common; any auto parts store will have special glue made to stick mirrors back onto windscreens. Similar to superglue but made for that specific application. Costs a couple of dollars.

Correct. At least that's how it's said in Brooklyn. Stuyvesant Town, Stuyvesant High School, etc.

Sty-ves-int (or ent, same basic sound)

Riddle me this, OT!

Where may I go to collect information regarding the neighborhoods (or whatever random districts may be assigned) of the Twin Cities and the surrounding metro area? Demographic info, area-specific maps (very preferable), crime stats, things in the area, and pictures (a plus).

If it were New York City, it'd be mostly unnecessary since I have a feel for most areas in this wide city, but admittedly, some of these neighborhood names are foreign (to me) and I can't quite piece them together with the overall map of the metro area. Gotta learn somehow. Once I know the areas, I can easily combine that knowledge with things like the transit maps and major roads and so forth, but I gotta know what I'm looking at, first.

Multiple sites are fine if they can complement each other or overlap.

Thanks in advance! :goodjob:

I had forgotten about that thread! That would give some useful information. Still would like as much as people can give me!

:thanx:

Booze?

EDIT: That response made no sense; I read the quoted material as what shouldn't I eat (from the original Mise quote) rather than why as was written in the piece I quoted.

Sorry, my mistake, I had read Mise's what as why in the first place.

Although ... well, still, what shouldn't I eat after I just woke up? I don't think Mise meant booze.

Eat whatever you like, your body can deal with it.

Ok, so I used to be able to get on fiftychat on some computers, but now I can't even do that. Instead there's some crap about goldfish. What have I done to deserve this?!

Oh, and thanks Dubai Vol, you've been most helpful :D!

You can't get on #fiftychat on IRC-chat anymore. Goldfish is a server on IRC-chat.

You have to go on irc.noodleninja.org and find #fiftychat there. It's the difference between connecting to irc.irc-chat.net and irc.noodleninja.org (so it's not that hard).

What means "To suck your fingers to the bone" in English? I mean it has a special meaning. What is it?

The phrase is "work your fingers to the bone." and just means work like a slave. No such phrase as "suck your fingers" etc.

Very rich language, English, mainly because it steals from all the other languages. :D

"Bite your thumb" would be vaguly similar. Archaic offensive hand genture, superseeded by holding up one or two fingers. Romeo and Juliet and all that.
