The Realms Beyond - Succession Game Discussions

What status do you have to have to start an RB succession game? Because I would like to start one (for amateurs) if possible.

Question 2: How do you post good-looking, almost-actual-size screenshots in a post? Because if I post a screenshot the normal way, it's just a tiny little thumbnail/link.

Any answers would be highly appreciated!

Post on the Realms Beyond boards the idea for your succession game and (I think) someone will say you can use the RB prefix for the game. Otherwise if you're not fussed about the RB moniker, just post it here at CFC and get it going from the off.

As for screenshots, I use paint to resize the image to 80% of the size and then host it at imageshack and paste the link imageshack gives you into my post.

You got the answer to your question in post one in this thread from Sirian

You'll get the thumbnails if you attach the image to the post.
To get the image in the post use the tags.
Best way is to upload the picture to the file server here at CFC (link at bottom of all pages) and then copy the link given to you when the upload is complete. Put that link inside the [img] tags.
Also resize the images [B]BEFORE[/B] uploading to 800X600 [B][U]maximum[/U][/B].
Any bigger than this can cause people to have to scroll side to side when reading that entire page, which is very annoying. ;)

Edit: OK, that worked. Thanks a lot, guys!

Hi,

Who exactly is Charis, anyway?
He was one of the most creative Civ 3 players of all time (and before that, Diablo players). :hammer: He had great variant ideas (I got the idea of trying to win with no military from him), he played the original Cuban Isolationists game with Sirian, and his reports were a ton of fun to read. :hammer:

You had to have nerves of steel playing in an SG after him, as he had the habit of starting wars all of a sudden at the craziest of times, when all other players would think you were totally unprepared for a war but he had spotted a great opportunity. :hammer: More than once I inherited a Deity game with most of our cities undefended and all our garrisons being at the front fighting against overwhelming numbers...but somehow, it would all turn out well, with us being able to talk peace before our first city fell. He taught me that you can wage war with ridiculously small armies in Civ 3, and how profitable this can be. :hammer:

Oh, and he loved the :hammer: smiley, and used it a lot.

His biggest weakness was overfeasting, though. He used to start way too many games at once, leading to too short nights and causing him RL troubles. More than once he stopped playing completely all of a sudden, only to return and overfeast again after some weeks...

Gosh, I really miss him. :)

Why wait, I'll sign up now variant unseen, I'm sure it will be a great one .

Darrell

I'll sign up to without knowing the variant:) . When I started reading this again I forgot I was the idiot :hammer2: who replied to the Huanay capac the despot post. :hammer2:

Hi,

I've finally found the time to start the SG I've previously talked about. You all are invited to join and play with me - although I'm not sure it will turn out to be like what you might have expected...

Here's the thread for RB30 - Open SG - Irrational Isabella:

The crew playing RBW2 - ANGRY KOREA MAN have either disappeared or have computers that self-destruct while playing. It has been a team decision to open the SG to players outside of the roster, similar to the recently completed RB30 - Irrational Isabella.

For those who haven't followed the thread, here is a summary of what we expect and what you'll need to play:

- Better AI v1-8
- ANGER
- Follow regular SG etiquette
- WITH ANGER
- Announce if you plan to take the next turnset
- Follow up with a report that keeps everybody on the same page
- WITH ANGER

I also suggest you read at least the last few pages to see what the current goals are (ie KILL HANNIBAL)

We are ANGRY! In fact we hate the first Civ we meet so much, that we must immediately declare war on them and never make peace!
We also hate America. Technically we hate a lot of things, but America is right up there on the list. We don't have to immediately declare war on America (unless they are the first CIV we meet :P) but we may never make positive deals with them.
Being generally angry is encouraged!

This game has another Variant - we are unconventional and may not train any Melee units except Warriors! For any normal CIV this would nearly by crippling, but Wangkon is Protective so gets enhanced Archers and Gunpowder units, he also has the Hwacha UU which fulfills the role of Axemen!
Note that the first civ we declared war on (Germany) and America have both been eliminated and Melee units are obsolete.

The thread is HERE. Read the first few posts for more information.

PS: We are ANGRY!

Ever thought of a Charis variant. Must declare war on someone who can reach you and is more powerful than you, if you are at peace at any time after 1 AD. If no one is more powerful than you declare on your two closest enemies. :hammer:
Don't forget to write like Charis :hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer:
