The Rise & Fall of The Mughals ~ v2 ~

What do you think of giving the Mughals the religious trait for the cheap cultural imporvements?

If we did, would we run the risk of having the Mughals run away with culture the way the Irish do in Rood and Dragon?

With regard to the topic of elephants in war, someone, someplace surely has written either a doctoral dissertation or an obscure historical tome on the subject. Any of you dudes still at university, please do a check for us.

Man if that's the case can you share it with me? Shakti (incl. Zakir Hussain) constitutes one of the more profound aesthetic experiences I ever had. I'm a diehard fan and would like to check it out ;)
I couldn't agree more. And I think I will get a more authentic, epic and alternative soundtrack done for the next upgrade. I certainly want one.

Good point about the Mughals running away with a culture victory guys. It should be on the cards for them but not as a run away option :nono:

Also, I found the thread about Elephants in the History Forum, here.

Seek and ye shall find:

War Elephants by John M. Kistler (Hardcover: 352 pages; Publisher: Praeger Publishers (November 30, 2005); Language: English; ISBN: 0275987612; List price: $44.95:eek: ).

As much as this topic has caught my fancy, I don't think I'm inclined to pay fifty bucks to learn more about it.

Also:

Love, War, and Circuses: The Age-Old Relationship Between Elephants and Humans by Eric Scigliano (Hardcover: 368 pages; Publisher: Houghton; Mifflin (June 19, 2002); Language: English; ISBN: 0618015833; List price: $25.00).

War-horse and elephant in the Dehli Sultanate: A study of military supplies by Simon Digby (Out of print-no further info available).

The Elephant at War by Andrew Todd (Out of print-no further info available).

edit: corrected the spelling of Mr. Kistler's name.

I need help useing the mod. I have downloaded everything and moved it to the conquests/scenarios folder; but when I try playing it it says

"LOAD ERROR"

ERROR READING FILE

Missing entry in "text\PediaIcons.txt" : ICON_BLDG_Company_House

So what have I done wrong?

On the Instalation Directions you said that when I extract the Rar to the Conquests\Scenarios folder it should make a folder. Instead it just became a regular file.

This might be where you are going wrong. I suggest you delete all that you extracted and start again, but keep the winrar file from the DL. Then 'extract' everything again, following the installation instructions. Make sure that everything in the winrar is selected when you do this or files will be missing. Ideally, find the whole 'Rise of Mughal 2' folder in the winrar, select that and extract.

Before you press 'ok' make sure that the file path to which you are extracting to is correct and that you do indeed have "Rise of Mughal 2" at the end of the file path. When you've confirmed that, extract it and the new folder should appear with everything in order. Then place the biq (from the foot of the OP) into the same 'Conquests > Scenarios' folder. It should work after that.

Let me know if you got it all going. I'm still wondering whether killercane got his/her problems fixed.

Jonatas:
Bear with me on the new soundtrack bro. I'm not a modding machine. Taking a bit of a break.

7Ronin: You're coming out with some handy book recommendations dude. Thanks a lot. Also for the map book tips in the Imago Mundi thread.

Regarding v3: I'll get round to it at some point but I played and fiddled with this mod for so long, I just want a breather for a while. Cheers for your patience, keep enjoying and keep posting your feedback, queries, comments etc. (EDIT: When I say "v3" i really just mean a patch for this version. Ahem.)

If it's done right, the Scenarios folder should contain the biq and the folder named Rise of Mughal 2. That folder should then contain two folders, one named Text and one named Art (and another named Sounds, if you've downloaded the music). Does this match what you've got?

Sorry for the delay, was at meetings all yesterday. Once more with feeling, here are the steps:

1 ~ Double click the DLed winrar.

2 ~ Select the Folder "Rise of Mughal 2" inside the winrar window (so that it is highlighted blue), before clicking 'extract to'.

3 ~ Check the filepath that you're extracting to reads: "C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\Rise of Mughal 2", before hitting 'OK'.

4 ~ Check that spelling also. It's important you don't call the folder "Rise of Moghul 2", as you typed above. The folder should be called "Rise of Mughal 2" and nothing but, or it won't be found.

5 ~ Put the biq in "C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios" and fire it up!

There really is nothing more to it than that. Follow the steps closely, without deviation and you shall be playing it very soon.

Plotinus: Thanks for stepping in. :)

 I'm delighted. Have fun and report back if you get the time. I hope enough info has been laid out to help you decide who to play as and how to go about it. Good luck.

.....

Where is the new soundtrack Rambuchan?!!?!!? Me, banana boy  and bouncing ball :bounce: eagerly wait for it's release!!!

BTW, this scenario is one of the best on here, I'm not even playing.

FYI, when I capture a city I get a diffrent message than raze or keep. It says something like 'military' (Keep city) or 'game stopped' (raze city). :crazyeye:

I can't really give you any useful game reports, other than I had alot of fun invading Bengal and annihilating Rajput, because I've modded the scenario a bit.

Guerra y Paz: The soundtrack will come eventually, along with an even more polished version. Please bear in mind though that it is summer time over here, so I'm not inclined to sit in front of a computer at these times unless I have to. Also that I am busy making another scenario right now (ok, it tends to rain in the British summer at times), I've spent stupid amounts of time on the existing version already and also that you've got a carefully thought out soundtrack already!

I appreciate the enthusiasm but please just bear those points above in mind. Also, the message you get when you take a city is a weird glitch which no one (except for Lou Long) knows how to fix. Fortunately it is only superficial. Just ignore what it says in those text boxes and click the box you would do otherwise.

civ4us2006:  There are no bugs in this which make the game crash. I've test played it so much that I can be that sure. So I'm lost as to why you had a crash. SpearOtomoRun.amb??? Are you sure you've got the right scenario and the right version?

civ4us2006:

just a question: do you use a spanish version or any other non-english version of civ?
