The Sims 2 | "Nehru" Legacy Challenge (Reader Participation Welcome)

Romulus to be the heir!

Well, color me surprised! I assumed the legacy of Romulus' namesake would knock everyone else out of the running. Tatiana will be living in the Legacy house regardless, and I may use Romulus to found another Legacy once I am done with this one (but with stricter rules, perhaps the "I'm surrounded by idiots" variants in which only the founder and succeeding heirs are under my control: the rest of the household has to fend for itself), but it looks like Kaiser is heir.

I have a large (60+ pictures) update in the works, though it'll take me some time to upload them all. Let's start off by following Kaiser at University, shall we?

Nehru Legacy 2.5 - Kaiser at College
kaisercy40.jpg

While the twins mature, Kaiser is off to college. A literature major, he'll spend most of his time making friends and skilling in preparation for his adult life.

kaisercy41.jpg

He moves into the cottage so recently vacated by his big sister Tatiana, which is now better furnished for her having lived there for four 'years'.

kaisercy43.jpg

....perhaps he would prefer a kindler and gentler name, like Kanzler.

(Anyone recognize that picture? ;))

kaiser44.jpg

Egads! A burgular.

kaisercy45.jpg

I wake Kaiser up and tell him to call the cops, which he does while the burglar is outside stealing his crystal ball, which I use to look for prospective mates and friends.

kaisercy46.jpg

The police would have come automatically if the Nehru cottage had an alarm system.

kaisercy47.jpg

"Curses! Foiled again!"

kaiercy47.jpg

"Hah, I totally gotta tweet about this."

kaisercy48.jpg

They don't offer him reward money for helping them catch the crook, but his insurance money ($1100) covers the stolen exercise bike. It won't bring back his crystal ball, but he doesn't need it any longer.

kaisercy49.jpg

^ He's already found the next Mrs. Nehru.

kaisercy50.jpg

Around junior year, he suddenly remembers that he's a knowledge Sim. Before the year was out, he'd maximized all skills.

kaisercy51.jpg

Kaiser's four years have been a roaring success -- not only did he find a bride, but he maximized his skills. He's prime and fit to conquer.

kaisercy52.jpg

Hiero, it's nice to know you know how to smile.

And with that, Kaiser's on his way back to the big house!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

Nehru Legacy 2.6 -- Interregnum

kaisercy1.jpg

....Hiero, where are you going?

kaisercy2.jpg

You said you were going to the BATHROOM, not the hereafter!

...looks like he knows who his heir is. Kaiser's still at college, though, so for the moment we have an heirless house -- Hiero never had any to to begin with.

kaisercy3.jpg

...kids? Little emotion? Your dad is dead..

kaisercy4.jpg

Guess it's time to build the family mausoleum. One rule or convention I've noticed in other legacy stories is that all the dead heirs' urns stay with the house.

kaisecy5.jpg

Everyone but the tenth-generation heir has their place reserved already! Isn't that nice.

kaisercy6.jpg

Hiero's portrait had to be moved out here. The family could't take him glaring at them from beyond the grave.

kaisercy7.jpg

...er, hello.

kaisercy8.jpg

Tatiana moved back in. Like mother, like daughter.

kaisercy9.jpg

I like green, myself.

kaisercy10.jpg

Good thing that's not even 10% of the family's bank account now. Heh.

kaisercy11.jpg

....this is somewhat sad.

kaisercy12.jpg

Sychronized whining! Nice. Since Hiero shuffled off this mortal coil, Chris and the boys have been going downhill.

kaisercy13.jpg

"Are those what I THINK they are? :groucho:"

Romulus' "game" has deteriorated dramatically.

kaiser15.jpg

This is a custom career, one I downloaded at some point and haven't yet tested for myself. Huzzah for lingerie.

kaisercy16.jpg

Those are actually impressive backflips, Romulus.

kaisercy14.jpg

That's your daughter's bed! Used your own!

(Chris is lookin' for a little lovin' to chase the blues away...)

kaisercy15.jpg

It would appear that Tatiana's professor has finally knocked her up.

kaisercy17.jpg

....new sheets.

kaiser18.jpg

Time passes so quickly -- meet Sargon, Tatiana's little boy.

kaiser19.jpg

....I think Chris just realized she's not actually pregnant and can't have kids anymore. Cheer up, lady. Now you've got a grandkid to fuss over.

kaisercy20.jpg

....this, by the way, was alllllll in Chris' back pocket when she first married Hiero. Most of it is now in Tatiana's back pocket.

Nehru Legacy 2.6, Continued -- Interregnum

kaisercy22.jpg

...oh, crap.

kaisercy23.jpg

"I may be dead, but I am STILL YOUR HUSBAND!"

kaisercy24.jpg

He would not leave the poor woman alone until she'd peed herself, fallen asleep in her food, and passed out on the floor.

kaisercy25.jpg

....this is really not your week, is it? Poor Chris.

kaisercy21.jpg

...this is very much beneath you, Tatiana.

kaisercy26.jpg

How do you starve to death at breakfast?

kaisercy27.jpg

Well, excuse him for trying to save his brother's mortal soul.

kaisercy28.jpg

Now Romulus, remember this when you and your brother are arguing over which hill is better to establish your first city.

kaisercy30.jpg

I thought something was missing from this update so far.

Chris and the two boys keep deteriorating. Romulus is keeping his head above the water, but Remus doesn't even go to school anymore. He can't apply for scholarships to college, and his pile of homework can be seen from the next county over on a clear day.

kaisercy31.jpg

He is still a faithful, if stinky, uncle.

kaisercy32.jpg

Heidi Klum?! I think whoever wrote this career is indulging in a little wish-fulfillment. (Her job descriptions are considerably better than other custom career descriptions, though.)

kaisercy33.jpg

Golly, she's good.

kaisercy34.jpg

Even though Tatiana is now a rich and famous beauty queen, she still has plenty of time for little Sargon.

kaisercy35.jpg

Her looks will 'rot'? Ouch.

kaiser36.jpg

You know people, do you? But do you know Heidi Klum?

...I think Tatiana is making MORE Than enough money, but thanks for the offer. I'll let her exhaust her vacation days, then switch to something a little more worthy of her keen mind. Radio astronomy, perhaps.

kaiser37.jpg

Sargon is such a little success!

kaiser38.jpg

...Remus isn't. They wouldn't even LET him apply for scholarships, so he just...missed college. Now he's a dishwasher. :goodjob:

kaisercy39.jpg

If that's your "pretty good" face, I'd hate to see your "Boy, my life bites" face. Romulus, meanwhile, has gone off to college...

kaisercy53.jpg

....and Kaiser is back! So much for the interregnum, let's get Kaiser's "day in the sun" started.

Nehru Legacy 2.7 -- Enter Kaiser

kaisercy54.jpg

And with that, Kaiser and Noelle become our second-generation royal pair.

kaisercy55.jpg

I'm sure Tatiana appreciates your attempt to produce generation three in her bed. She's going to have to change the sheets again.

kaisercy56.jpg

Kaiser's first founding portrait, painted by Tatiana. She snuck herself in there, too.

kaisercy57.jpg

"He knows EVERYTHING! Of course he's entitled to be dean!"

kaisercy58.jpg

You again! Why do you keep coming around here?

kaisercy59.jpg

It would appear that Tatiana's bed is conducive to baby-making.

Noelle, for those curious, was an "NPC" who came around to congratulate particularly creative Sims. She's very Creative, but nothing else -- which is why during her pregnancy she spent a good deal of time learning to cook. I imagine Tatiana will do most of the cooking, but I never let Sims go around useless. Once she has the baby, she'll be going to work as a waitress.

kaisercy69.jpg

...wow, this kid is smart. Too bad he's only the heir to the spare to the heir.

kaisercy61.jpg

Awww! Welcome to the family, Noelle!

kaisercy62.jpg

Kaiser's self-portrait.

kaisercy63.jpg

I seem to have left that TV hanging out in the middle of nowhere.

kaisercy64.jpg

This kid has potential. I wonder how many skills he can max as a child?

kaisercy65.jpg

Chris...is not much of a grandmother, ore even a mother. She spends most of her time building robots and carrying around a flour sack baby. She spend her nights in Hiero's old tent, which is...somewhat sad. I did get her to help Sargon with his homework, though.

kaisercy66.jpg

....and generation three is inbound!

Time to suggest some names worthy of the Kaiser Nehru line. ;)

Can we go with Gustavus?

Few questions about this legacy: do all the children come back to live in the clan house once they've finished college?

Augustus if a boy, Octavia if a girl

So what are you supposed to do with the non heirs?

Pack them in a pool without a ladder or stuff them in crowded apartments? I'm a bit confused with the non-heir children...

Few questions about this legacy: do all the children come back to live in the clan house once they've finished college?

By official rules, children other than the chosen heir are just 'spares' and can't come home again unless their favored sibling dies and another heir is needed. I chose to ignore this rule in the case of Tatiana, because I like the Sim too much to toss her to the side. I don't know how long she'll live in the house: that depends on how many kids Kaiser and Noelle have.

In most legacy stories I've read, the 'spares' are just moved into an empty lot and never played. Remus actually lives right across the street from his family, in a small field furnished with only a telephone.

By the way, if anyone wants to read another legacy story, I like this livejournal account of the Creelman Legacy. It is essentially the story that got me interested in trying a legacy challenge to begin with.

Good story. I've long abandoned Sims 2 and 3 but now interested in them again after reading this legacy challenge!

Heir? Try Marrian or Davos.

Try Julius or Tarquin for boys and Sabine or Minerva for women. Also, even if you have an ancient computer, at least max the graphics when taking photos so you don't get "ugly people" shots.

I was thinking of early Roman-themed names, hence Tarquin(us Superbus) and (the Rape of the) Sabine(s).
