The Sith Power of Religion

Information is power. Let's think about whipping a couple more jags and getting a war started.

I thought about that. Catapults are nice against cities, but horse archers are pretty good against archers and will give us other capabilities in addition. Alphabet would be good though, because when we really get rolling its nice to be able to demand techs for peace.

My view is attack asap because if we wait for cats we'll be facing longbows; the AIs will be generally further ahead in research and power and we'll be on the downward spiral.

I think we should get Construction before Alpha since AI is unlikely to trade it to us (we don't have any friendlies so far I think). We can always attack now and whip cats in newly captured cities.

I didn't realize I am up and found out by looking back a page or two. I will try to get to it today but might have to leave it until tomorrow. Jags/war sounds good and will focus on that.

EDIT: I also notice 1889 mentioned it.

Looking at the save now and I think we will need a few more Jags for war like Pigswill states. The need for cats is now already looking at Toku's cities. He has an archer in that city south of us that has CD3 defense. Louis' city has already 50% defense due to culture so that will definitely need cats although we could probably do with Jags but will have to sacrifice a few. Isabella's city isn't visible but I like those floodplains and maybe go after her?

Here's the thing though once you get started in a war with her at some point another AI will join in. Toku is likely and he can have quite a army sometimes. I see several Jags which is near enough yet. Will need to get some more before we can consider whom to attack.

Darth Vader sees that the Sith colony is weak and needs many more warriors. He looks about and sees our first victim should be Isabella who is also on bad terms with Toku. Joining him in a war against Isabella may bring us a new ally that we can at some point backstab. We must though gain strength and seek the power of the force to do this. We are extremely weak right now and need to trade aggressively to keep in line with the AI. I also wonder why we are researching HBR when construction would be the way to go. Although a warrior at heart Darth Vader understands the need for commerce and exchange of goods. Each city has only one trade route and we need currency to change that. We are on ok terms with France, Carthage, Russia. Japan, Mali, are enemies right now and it seems too that Russia doesn’t like Mali much.

Ok on the first turn I look to see what the AI has to offer. I see that we haven't traded much and feel that we need to do some to get closer to our goals. Since we have the Sith faith I understand that we now can trade and have open borders.

Surprisingly Mali offers us this trade even though he is quite annoyed with us. I like the idea of getting alphabet and take it.

This prompts me into getting us some more trades so we make the following:

Civ4ScreenShot0245.jpg

and this one too:

Civ4ScreenShot0249.jpg

We immediately revolt to Hereditary Rule and Naboo now has a happy limit of 10. We move the two Jags there as well to increase happy and move them closer to whatever victim we choose first.

We receive the request from Darth Catherine to stop trading with Mali which I believe we should agree to since she is the most powerful and highest in score. We should try to befriend her as she makes a good ally until of course we backstab as Sith do.

Civ4ScreenShot0251.jpg

We also trade with LouisIV alphabet for monotheism. Not a great trade but the alpha tech is out of the bag so we might as well get something for a tech we traded for. When I checked Catherine COL was available to trade but she had nothing. One turn later it’s gone so once a tech is out is goes fast so we should trade to the max to get the best mileage out of our techs.

Civ4ScreenShot0252.jpg

We also revolt to OR for the benefit of better production but at the expense of some commerce.

So I sell meditation to Hannibal for 120gold so as to speed up our research of HBR. We max the science and should drop back after founding HBR.

Civ4ScreenShot0253.jpg

I played 10 turns and there is only 1 turn left on HBR. Not a tech that I think we needed but what is done, is done. Perhaps construction would have been better as I think cats which be much more effective and helpful than Horsearchers. (PS I rarely use them) Give me a CR3 cat any day over a Horsearcher.

Gentius has built a altar and Hun is now part of the hive so to speak. The added culture will give the barbs less room to spawn and maybe need some fogbusting up there. We were attacked by three warriors/one axe/ and one sword. The sword took out our Jag up there so we need a good counter to swords. I suggest we send an axe up there.

Naboo built a library and has grown to 7 which I think we should let it grow for the added ability to work cottages etc. Our pop is very low and we should hold off on whipping until happy cap is reached. That’s just my opinion as I tend not to whip too much and more so inline with the new AI and let them grow big and healthy.

As to research construction would be nice but I think what we need more than anything right now is currency. Toku has it but won’t trade even though we have something to trade with him. Ergo the idea to get him into a war with Izzy and us. Isabella would be a good target to start however her cities aren’t on the best land except the one on the floodplains.

Hmm... good work! We didn't exactly need the polyfishingmasonry trade; this is Monarch after all and in the new patch the AI easily gets the point of "we fear you are becoming too advanced"...

EDIT: Just noticed that Mansa Musa is on the map, so forget what I said.

I also forgot to mention that we have a priest in Naboo right now. Getting another priest would help us get theocracy if we want it. Chrisitanity is out so we don't haver to worry about discovering it. I personally would merge him with Naboo for the production/commerce increase. If I have guessed it right we should have a GP in about near thirty turns. That's if we keep the priest there. Let's get that corn hooked in Naboo next since we could switch from mine for now for some more pop to maybe add another priest if so desired. The workers are building cottages at Gentius and Tatooine right now. Perhaps once the two are done there (built a farm to get Gentius growing again) send them to the corn field.

Since the GPP bar is half way the next Great person will be a priest but once he pops maybe go to scientist for the science boost and lightbulb something.

I've got it. Had a look at it. Spain certainly appears an easier target than Tok. Couple more jags and protective spear and we're in business. Head towards Construction next. Burn GP on Theology or join it to Naboo? Not sure.

We are bleeding coin pretty bad and I think we need currency. Once we get to warring our science and commerce will go to the crapper. Maybe we can entice Toku into a war with Izzy too and get the mutual war bonus. He does have currency and we probably could bribe him with COL. Good luck Pigswill.

Greetings my fellow Dark Jedi of the Secret Council. At last I have broken the will of Quentin the Twilit Fool. He is now trapped in this body. Totally helpless. If I did not need him to move this shell around I would gladly flay his soul over a dozen centuries. But I am free at last to bring about our future destiny. Darth Nihilus has returned!!
For too long have the Sith being milling around aimlessly like sheep without a wolf to herd them. Do they not realise it is their glorious destiny to die that we might live and thrive and conquer?
However now I am here I gathered together our pitifully small army and marched them south to the borders of Spain. War was declared. The city of Seville was assaulted and captured. Not put to the torch. To be the first of many to be joined to the realms of the Sith. The loss of a mere three companies of jaguars is petty. We are on the route to the Imperium.

Report
Spoiler :
725ad. Reorganised units, starting marching them towards Spanish border.
770ad. Scout killed by barb sword.
785ad. Scout killed by barb axe. Whip granary in Gentius.
800ad. Whip altar in Tatooine.
830ad. Catherine demands Horseback Riding. We agree. We are a kindly and generous people are we not?
sith310000.jpg

830ad. We invite Isabella to a War. She agrees. We are a generous and kindly people are we not?
sith320000.jpg

860ad. Stack of 5 jaguars, archer, axe vs Seville (2 archers, sword and city walls!) Lose 3 jags, capture city. The axeman has time to kill a passing spearman and convert the spanish settler to a sith slave.

875. Troops occupy Seville.

Overall been building as much as getting units. We picked up 114 gold from Seville. Currently 9 rounds from construction. Corn has been connected. Cities have been connected so all can build axe/spear.

Robo Kai is on deck

Continue with Izzy I'd reckon though we need more units before fighting anyone.

I trade Louis HBR for Literature.

I'm not sure of the reasoning behind keeping attacking Izzy, her cities are far away and if we take them mainteneace will be a killer. I think Toko should be our target. I'm never going to get an army up anyway this turn so will start us on a new army and then we can see where we go...

Construction comes in, I choose Metal Casing.

I pillage Izzy's iron.

Hannibal and Tokogawa now have Feudalism, our time is quickly disappearing .

I was able to produce an axe, spear and jaguar. Everyone's on military production so will have somewhat of an army soonish.

I tried to get some production going in Naboo, so remined all the pillaged hills.

Things are looking pretty grim but the Sith would have it no other way ;).

Me thinks the Sith idea is cursed at CFC. The only reason why I suggested Izzy as she seemed kind of weak and Toku had CD3 defence in his cities. With no cats we wouldn't haven't gotten anywhere with him imo. Getting those two cities just south of us of Izzy would be sufficient but I mentioned too that the cities weren't very attractive other than the two on our borders.
