Chapter I
Hell Week
(20 May 1980 - 27 May 1980)

Will McIntyre bolted upright from his slumber and looked around the furniture department of the mall. Nobody. "That was a trippy dream," Will muttered. He checked his handgun and decided he would make his rounds to see how his mall was holding up. He wasn't sure he wanted to stay here much longer. Across town, Kenan Payne bolted up from his sleep in his bedroom above his gunshop castle, dreaming the same dream of a woman in white and a woman in red.

Across the former United States, men and women are awaking with the same dream of two women, but they stood in silhouette.

But the dreams did leave one thing behind. The urge to go east.

May 22th, 1980.

I am in Vietnam.

Yes, physically I am in Montana, on one of the ranger trails leading west. But mentally, emotionally, I have never left Vietnam. I fought, I healed people, I led. I blundered.

Oh how I wish I was still there.

This morning I ran across a Ranger's station. A small cabin was all it was, yet it reeked of death. The disease had been there already. A trio of bodies, a mother, a father, and a small child were all I found. I could do nothing; they were far past saving. I scavenged what I could and looked around for some items I judged to be essential. These included a way of transportation (maybe, a horse, or a ranger's truck), and a radio.

Later in the day I found myself pondering my dream. Go east. But what is to the east? Population centers. Or in other words, mass graveyards, with dead bodies ready to breed even more diseases than the one that had been unleashed. No, it was unwise to go there. He would seek refuge in the west. Maybe find a way back to Vietnam.

But no, he had a duty here after all. He was a soldier, a doctor, a patriot. He had a duty to his country. Didn't he?

I travel well into the night with whatever transportation I have, whether it be my own two feet, a horse, a vehicle, or what have you. Going west mind you.

He finds the usual. Detailed maps of Texas, a handgun, a bottle of beer, and a large keychain full of keys.

May 28th, 1980.

We're actually between 22 May and 27 May. 28 May would be next turn.

and looked around for some items I judged to be essential. These included a way of transportation (maybe, a horse, or a ranger's truck), and a radio.

You find a car full of what used to be young college students. They're all dead now, but one has a gunshot wound to the temple.

I travel well into the night with whatever transportation I have, whether it be my own two feet, a horse, a vehicle, or what have you. Going west mind you.

You arrive to the region east of Billings, Montana. The stars and moon are gone, but you can make out the outline of the city easily.

The city is on fire.

Kenan wakes up feeling remarkably odd. He can't be in here any longer. the first thing he does is take inventory of his gunshop for any and all essential items he owns.

"Woah that was a hell of a party last... week? And how did I even get into this funky cave?"

Look around.

Wang Cheng cannot believe his luck. Thanks to the warehouse his father had build, he had been able to survive. That warehouse was build by his father, because he was afraid of a nuclear war with USSR, and so has lot of food, weapons and medicine. So, Wang Cheng decides to equip himself with an old hunting rifle, two Butterfly Swords, a smoke grenade and a backpack full of medicine and food. Equipped like this, Wang Cheng goes out of his warehouse to explore New York for any survivors.

Back-story

Li Tai was born a only child to a dissentient reporter Li Su and his wife Xiu. Age 6 his parents managed to get themselves and him out of the Peoples Republic and to Hong Kong. He vanished from his perents around age 9 when his perents went to a opera; his babysitter were no carer. The kidnappers however were themselves taken by a smuggler gang, who took Tai to Sri Lanka, before then heading on his 10th birthday to what would have been a route to Afghanistan, until said route was then overtook by the Indian navy.

Well under care of the Indian force Li Tai had a series of dreams… or possibly visions. In the dreams Li Tai was approached by “the Deity of Light,” which proclaimed Tai as a “the candle” or “Làzhú.” Tai was told that he would be set to a journey across the eastern ocean to “seek out the Fault of Ways, which he be able will to ‘lit’ it to enable humanity to illumine the Earth and transcend from the cruelties of the great darkness that has plagued it and will attempt to cripple it.”

Now envisioning the path to illuminating the Earth “Làzhú” has smuggled himself to locate the “Fault of Ways.” He managed to smuggle across the Pacific, by joinining the passengers of a Pan-Pacific immigrant smuggling to the Americas, were the smuggler of migrants dropped him off in San Diago.

Li Tai’s 11th birthday was 1May 1980. That day he had another vision; the Light told him that in the darkness that “cleanses the world for the upcoming battle between good and evil” he would take part in leading a “fellowship of peace and power to launch a crusade on the wicked so that the Fault of Ways may reveal itself to the chosen one, the Candle! You will light the world so that darkness may no longer echo its corruption!” Now the child prophet is in the streets of San Diago, to hunt for disciples to aid in his holy quest to “illuminate the world.” Can a child prophet succeed?

OOC: you can blame Prophet Cha Dawn as a inspiration, plus I am in a fire mood, for the Night is Dark and Full of Terrors!

I will absolutely murder you

You, of course, find your guns. Those are in abundance. However, you've ran out of food and water and, annoyingly, it seems like the keys to your car are gone. You're certain one of your "friends" stole your medicine on the way out as well.

"Woah that was a hell of a party last... week? And how did I even get into this funky cave?"

Look around.

18

There's plenty of food in the cave, but most of it is perishable like takeout pizza, so it likely won't last long. You find a baseball bat and a zippo lighter.

You believe there might be more deeper in the cave.

Go to St. Louis, Missoui with motorcycle and start preaching there

10

You ride east along I-70 on the ingoing highway to dodge the morass of dead and idling cars heading out of the city. You're now coming up on Boonville, Missouri. You're running low on gas, but a rest stop is up ahead with a gas station.

Jacques returns to his former place of employment, the Bocage Pharmacy, to see if there's any supplies of import remaining.

15

The front glass doors are blocked and barricaded with four disease victims huddled around the front dead. You know about the backdoor, and where the owner keeps the key so he can come in drunk late at night. You grab the key and enter the pharmacy. It is mostly empty, but there is still significant amounts of various medicines around.

Wang Cheng goes out of his warehouse to explore New York for any survivors.

4

Your father's house in the "suburbs" of New York City had been spared most of the destruction of the city. You start walking into the city, but you're not sure if you will find anybody. That's when you start hearing echos. Somebody is yelling.

Loudly.

Okay cool. I eat until I'm full and leave my cave to find the nearby gas station with my bat, lighter, and bobcat. If there are no survivors, loot the place, looking behind the counter for a shotgun or handgun, and everywhere else for food that isn't dehydrating. Check the abandoned cars and dead people for bags, flashlights, matches, full tanks of gas, and anything else useful.

Check out who is making the noise. If something/someone comes yelling towards me and does not respond to the question "Friend or Foe?", fire at will with the hunting rifle. If he manages to get close enough, then use the Butterfly Swords.

You fail to find a gas station.

Or civilization outside of the end-of-the-world party that ended, by the smell, very recently. You do, however, find flashlights, matches, a full tank of gas, some good, and water in a few cars at the party.

11

You fail to find the source of the noise.

The echos make it sound like he is in every direction. At once.

"Monsters coming! Monsters coming now!" He yells.

Throw a smoke grenade and take the chance to go back to my father's house. If someone is coming, first shoot, then ask.
