The Sumerian Empire

70 B.C.
Military Advisor- My King, here is a list of all military units lost during the conflict with Osman. It reflects the losses from both sides, but does not account for the great many wounded.
loss.jpg

King Gudea- All those who have given their lives for this great empire, will be long remembered!

50 B.C.
Foreign Advisor- The military alliance with Carthage vs. the Romans, has come to an end. Hannibal did not wish to extend the alliance, but is more than willing to keep pounding on Caesar. Also, Theodora is more than headstrong with her warmongering ways.

s92a-SA_talks_of_mon..jpg

King Gudea- I agree with researching Monarchy. It is good to be king!

Domestic Advisor- With aqueducts increasing the available water supply, a few of our towns will now grow larger. Construction of a colosseum has begun in Ur, which will bring some much needed entertainment. Most of the population, in the Ottoman towns we destroyed, were killed. But those that survived and were captured, will fight in this new arena. If you weren't so set on Monarchy, I would recommend the Republic as a government, so that 'the people' could have more say in the direction our nation is heading in.
King Gudea- If we have a great need for increased commerce, or there are calls from the populace for a change, then I will consider it. Till then, I like having the final say!

Military Advisor- Our forces are moving into position, outside of the Babylonian towns of Sippar & Izibia. Two settler groups have been sent along with our military, to found towns in place of the Babylonian ones.

s95-sippar_razed.jpg

Foreign Advisor- Caesar has agreed to end hostilities with us. With our two forces never having met in battle, it is a straight-up peace deal.
s96-peace_with_romans.jpg

King Gudea- Caesar can count on our forces meeting in battle; it is only a matter of time.

10 A.D.
Domestic Advisor- The new town of 'Kish Range' has been founded, near the ruins of Izibia. We now have three towns built upon hills, on our western border. The military advisor has repeatedly requested hill towns in that area, cause he sees an eventual conflict with the Hittites. He tells me that the hills will provide a natural defense against any Hittite assault.
s99-kish_range_founded.jpg

Military Advisor- A chariot unit has finally made a name for itself, with a military leader emerging from it's ranks. Meskiaggasher led a counter-attack against an invading Babylon swordsman.
s100-military_leader.jpg

Military Advisor- He then made his way to Kish Range to gather a swordsman army. We now have three powerful armies to wield, my Liege. After we are done with Hammurabi, I think we should take Mursilis down a notch or two.
s101-leader_to_army.jpg

King Gudea- I like an advisor who thinks ahead. Draw me up some battle plans!:hammer:
Military Advisor- With pleasure, my King!
.

Excellent update Takeo! I love this story as much as 'Takeo takes on Deity'.
I really like the way you've effectively blended storytelling with a game-log to make it engaging but at the same time very easy to read.

@tupaclives & Ansar_the_King- Glad you like it and thanks for the support!:)

Update coming this evening.

30 A.D.
Military Advisor- Our forces are poised on a hill, overlooking the Babylonian city of Shuruppak. This will be the largest city that we have ever attacked. It is home to over 230,000 Babylonian citizens and Hammurabi's summer palace is located there.
s102-armies_vs_shuruppak1.jpg

King Gudea- Good, we will soon have new 'recruits' for the arena.

50 A.D.
Domestic Advisor- Cleopatra has finished work on an enormous project. She has built a huge stone wall around all of her cities, to discourage any invasions. Yeah, like that will work!
s104-egypt_great_wall.jpg

Plague and pestilence strike Sumeria
s106-Black_Death.jpg

Domestic Advisor- My King, a specter of a skull is hovering over the city of Kish. Also, the smell of death has caused a great gathering of vultures and they have begun to circle around the city.
s107-slkull.jpg

King Gudea- First, there are threats of a devastating earthquake and now a deadly plague? This is a hazardous world we live in.

Military Advisor- A Babylonian galley has sailed up the coast and has dropped off a unit of bowman, near the city of Isin. These bowman are famous for being equally good at attacking and defending, but our chariots make short work of them.
s108-bowman.jpg

Foreign Advisor- Sir, a number of other nations have gold piling up. May I suggest acquiring it from them, in trade for some of our knowledge?
s109-trade_byz.jpg

King Gudea enjoyed having a scientific advantage over other nations, but he enjoyed adding to his treasury, even more.

90 A.D.
s113-black_death_at_ur.jpg

King Gudea had heard many reports about the plague in Kish, but did not think it could strike his home city. The king was quickly rushed to his partially-completed summer palace, located in Sumer.
King Gudea- How did this happen? Didn't we seal up Kish?
Domestic Advisor- We think a trading caravan slipped out, before Kish's city gates were blocked off. They unwittingly brought the plague to Ur.
King Gudea- Make sure both cities are sealed up, till this disease is completely gone!

Gudea then had his military advisor brought before him.
King Gudea- I have not heard word from the battlefront, in some time. This plague has caused disruption, hysteria, and worst of all death. I hope that you bring me good news!
Military Advisor- I have good news, Great One! A number of Babylonian cities have been destroyed, and we have virtually no losses on our side. We penetrated Babylonian territory, to within sight of the capital city of Babylon and have also seen evidence of their famed ivory.
s102a.jpg

King Gudea- Do you think Hammurabi has learned not to demand anything from us?
Military Advisor- If he hasn't, then he is hardheaded!

Military Advisor- The reason I was delayed in bringing this information to you, was because these plans were being drawn up.
battle_plan_hitt.jpg

Military Advisor- We will send three battle groups into Hittite territory. Each group of Sumerian units will take out two cities, then all fully-healthy units will strike at the Hittite capital of Hattusas. Several settlers will also accompany our forces, and one will found a town near the Hittite incense.
King Gudea- Well done! Begin to pull our forces back and set them up to invade Hittite territory. It will begin, as soon as our military alliance is over with.

150 A.D.
s113a.jpg

King Gudea- You have permission to utilize the treasury, to take care of all who have been orphaned or widowed. Let not one be forgotten about! Make sure all shipments of food and luxuries, to the two afflicted cities, are resumed immediately.

50 A.D. to 290 A.D
s103a.jpg

s103-byz_hitt_vs_baba.jpg

King Gudea- I have a feeling that we will be tangling with Theodora, sooner or later!
.

Absolutely great update Takeo! Love the pictures, what program are you using to do them?

Glad you like it, thanks!
Using Paintshop Pro 9 for the pictures.
In the editor, under scenario properties is a disaster tab.
Just put a chech mark in the 'permit disaster' chech box
and then fill in all the properties. I actually got all the
properties and values out of Rhye's mod. So, any credit
should go to him, cause I wouldn't have known what
to enter.:)

How do you put down plauges? You just have to wait for htem to end, right?

Ansar_the_King said:
Isnt the black plague supposed to be in the Middle Ages?

I think that is when it happened, not sure.

I just entered the same numbers that Rhye did in his mod. I did not now how it would work out, and did not test it. His mod is very popular and I noticed he had enabled plagues on it, also he made disease stronger in flood plains.
I just wanted to make the game somewhat harsher, and figured that plagues would help in that area.:)
The plagues can be set to occur several times and in a normal game it might have happend in the middle ages. But research has been slow and everyone is still in the ancient age.

OT: If you're talking about the bubonic plague, that was closer to 1347 AD - 1350 AD, since I think it got spread to Europe from the Middle East and South Asia.

That screen full of alliances looks really scary to me. But it looks like they're not all friendly with each other, even the ones in alliances. Hittites allied with Byzantines, Byzantines allied with Egypt, Egypt allied with Rome, Rome allied with Babylon, and the Hittites are at war with Babylon. What a mess.

That's whats fun. To watch the AI's fight each other like peas in a pot. :D

They need to pay upkeep for their units. That's what I do. I go over the limit then get in a war.
