The Team 3 Lounge

  1. Interest/Activity level? Medium
  2. Skill level in Civ4? Depends, I'm not Aeson or Freidrich level skill but as stated I'm a monarch/emperor level player (have beaten emperor before, just get bored of it so I play monarch) who has experience in demogames and MP which places me among a handful of people really. I don't know all of the "exploits" due to coding because I never bothered to learn them, though I am quite good at strategy and tactics and know how to rush/choke/build and when to do them.
  3. Experience with Multiplayer? Yes, lots, played on the CIV ladder for 2 years until I had to start concentrating on my degree, beta tested CIV MP, beaten too many people to remember in FFAs and team games, in PBEMs and simul turn MP. I was a member of RaY (a clan) which one the CCC several times until it disbanded. I used to play excessively every night with my clan mates testing out various new game types and strategies...
  4. Experience with an MTDG? I have been part of: PTWDG, PTWDG2, PTW ISDG (all Civ3, and mostly as a newb) C3C ISDG (team leader for ACS and main MMer until I had to really start work for my A levels) C3CDG (joint team leader and joint main MMer and general and diplomat) C4DG lurker, BtSDG game historian. I think I've done every role in a demogame that can be done, though to be perfectly honest I think I suck as a diplomat, and I don't believe that the role minister of war (MoW) actually does anything, as the units are always built by cities which are controlled by the minister of the Interior (MoI) and in every team I've played in the final decision has always been down to the turn player (who obviously listens to the arguements on the team forums and does what he thinks is best with an informed decision). If this team works differently :b: it'll be interesting.
  5. Desired role on Team 3? I don't want a role really, I'll weigh in with my opinions when I can add something useful, and at the start of the game I'll try MMing out the first 50-80 turns or so to figure out the best way to grow/what techs to research.

Just a swift message aimed mainly at Joe: if I seem to be being a bit harsh or simplistic in the public forum I'm sorry. I'm trying to walk through everything slowly so that other people who aren't necessarily good english speakers can follow the logic. I do understand that there is like 0% chance of everyone going onto the public forum and demanding to play simul turns, but the reason I'm trying to push the simul turns is so that in future games more people will be willing to experiment and play simul turns. While I personally think that simul turns would lead to a better experience, so long as people are prompt with the save it might be possible to get up to 2 turns a week with good turn players.

Thanks Krill :) Sorry for my part in it.

And no hard feelings.

No, it's good that the public forum is given a bit of discussion; hopefully we can start getting the other teams involved in the discussions so that we can get their input so we can draft the (other, ie pause) rules for the game as well as possible. Even that little bit of tension can lead to good things :)

Hey - at least Kudos to our team for having a lot of active posters!

In my experience, that bodes well for our team's chances of success. :)

1. Interest/Activity level: High.
2. Skill level in Civ4: Average. Plenty about this game that I don't know or grand strategies that I have to force myself to try out just for a little familiarity with them.
3. Experience with Multiplayer: Love Multiplayer but haven't done all that much of it because it takes so long! I quickly get bored with singleplayer and generally don't play the entire game. Multiplayer holds my attention much better, I'm excited every single turn and can stare at the screen for hours before hitting the "turn" button.
4. Experience with an MTDG: Had one poor experience.
5. Desired role on Team 3: General Devil's Advocate and Diplomacy. I'm also not opposed to helping out with the newspaper/propaganda, which really is a great idea! With events ON we should be able to have a lot of fun with this.

This team looks great! :goodjob:

Just a suggestion but if people would like to get a PBEM or PBTS game going so that we could get to know one another betetr that would be cool with me (though I can only play PBEM as I'm behind a uni firewall that blocks most/all ports)

Good Idea, but I don't even have civ 4. Maybe a civ 3 one.

I would be interested in playing a PBEM game on the side. Are you suggesting Team 3 members only or opening it to the community at large?

Am i the only one here that doesn't have civ four.

Possibly. It's kind of hard to comment on strategies tactics and game mechanics if you;ve not played the game a fair bit.

It's been out a while. If you don't have a friend who has a purchased a copy, try to get a hold of one. I think it's quite a bit of fun...if you did then you could get in on Krill's PBEM and learn how to play!

I'm going to get it I just haven't yet.
