The Team 3 Lounge

Hello everyone. I'm jacked to be a part of this team and look forward to learning a lot.

1. Interest/Activity level My activity will vary since I'm old enough to be some of your parents and that means "stuff and things". Since I'm a mod at CFC I'm around here a fair amount so behave. :p
2. Skill level in Civ4I have BTS but haven't played much beyond some pitboss games over 6 months ago. I haven't found civ4 as fun versus the AI versus say c3c. I'm hoping this game will get me engaged in the game again since I don't think I've given it a fair chance.
3. Experience with Multiplayer? I've played a fair amount of Pitboss at CDZ and a couple of CFC OT games. Some with a fair amount of success purely through diplomacy and a zero skill level but trying to beat DaveMcW is not easy when you lack skills. I've also been in a number of very good c3c pbem's including laying the hammer on a team from the Russian forum and getting my head kicked in by General W and Niklas. :D
4. Experience with an MTDG? Quite a bit. I've been involved with both c3c games, the first civ4 game and the c3c ISDG at CDZ until that game unfortunately fell apart.
5. Desired role on Team I've been mostly on the diplomacy side and when I have been turnplayer it's usually in a clean up roll. Team cheerleader?

Hey Whomp! :wavey:

It'll be fun to actually be on your team for once! :D

Hey, I wanted to get all the leader info together. I am using XML to store the data. I threw this data together with little in the way of design. I was working on a way to track the data we'd need but I decided to wait until the game got going to see where we focus on and what kind of reporting procedures we'll need/follow.

As the game unfolds I expect this basic file to expand both in terms of information stored and how that information is represented (graphically and intuitively). For now, I thought the most important information would be concerning the leaders stats, all in one place.

Unzip the XML and XSL (2) files and the Imaged (1) folder into any folder on your computer. Then, open the XML file in your internet browser and you should be looking at a list of leaders with their info. I would just upload the list here except the HTML is turned off. :(

Maybe if we can get that turned on I/we can just copy and paste things like this in the future?

Note: I use Firefox and it opens it right up. Testing in IE has revealed that you need to drag the file in there if you have anything else setup to read .xml files in Windows...it will just use the mime data to open it in the corresponding program if you use the file/open command.

I certainly think your idea has got some potential, if developed properly throughout the game. :)

There's a reference to an unexisting javascript file, "data.js", though. Did you mean to include it in the .rar?

Thanks, Theoden. Yes, the data.js reference is still there. I have been working on more than just this...what I uploaded is only a fragment of the project and it didn't need any script to function! I have updated the file, as well, including some more images.

When we get the sceenshot of our start I'll run a few sims on it to see what we can do (of course it's not going to be a whole lot of us if we can't see most of our tiles or we decide to move, so it'll only be brief until we start and see our 21 tiles.)

1. Interest/Activity level (High, Medium, Low, Mostly Lurking)
Interest high, activity probably Low. University is terrible for my civ time, but otherwise very pleasant.
2. Skill level in Civ4
Monarch / Emperor
3. Experience with Multiplayer?
Team Innovia in MTDG 1, turnplayer for some time, pretty active member. Diplomat in civ3 MTDG 2. Also 2.5 single-player demogames, with fluctuating activity.
4. Experience with an MTDG?
See above
5. Desired role on Team 3
Lurking, unless I find time to actually open the game (hell, to actually get my version of BtS completely right, the HOF mod still gives me Assets errors). On the plus side, I'm used to playing a mtdg without opening the save, since I've been active in Team Saber from the start without ever having played civ 3 conquests.

Welcome Dutchfire!

I'm so glad I'm going to get to play WITH some former adversaries here

Adversaries, what do you mean? :p

When does this game kick off? Thought it started yesterday...did I miss something?

I think we're shooting for Wednesday (tomorrow) at this point...it was brought up somewhere in the group forum. Daveshack is hosting and is busy getting all the 'technical' details in order.

Just to clarify for the newbie....can everyone open and look at the saves or only the turn player?...this game is being played sequentially not simultaneously?...if we can all view the saves, what are the connection details?...are we using civstats?

We are using Civstats. We are also making use of a Pitboss server for this game. This means that the game is persistent; players can log in and out at any time. You should check out this thread for more info.

Also, just to clarify, we should, at large, refrain from moving any units or making adjustments to queues/sliders/etc. These responsibilities, I feel, are best taken care of by our group turn player(s)...things can get confusing if stuff isn't where they left it!

:agree:

Anyone should feel free to log in to look at the game, take screenshots, and generally gather information.

NO ONE should move or DO anything except our elected turn player.

Thanks for the link....what are our connection details?

Also...warsawwasraw did not work to register leader at civstats.

In fact civstats says the uploader timed out right after we all were eliminated. So sad that it is over this quickly!

Hey - signing in late - I just found about this from a comment in the Apolyton demogame and signed up.

1. Interest/Activity level: Medium
2. Skill level in Civ4: I can win on Monarch / Emperor usually
3. Experience with Multiplayer: Very limited
4. Experience with an MTDG: Having fun at the Apolyton demogame
5. Desired role on Team 3: I don't have BtS though I will be getting it for Christmas (advantages of being the dad <g>) so until then, I see myself just commenting on strategy and such. One thing I enjoy doing is analyzing various MM strategies

Welcome regoarrarr! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

You're now super awesome ;)
