Japan does hold the most industrialized and manpower-heavy parts of China, so all is not lost yet. I just wish they'd give up on Australia for now and focus on China.

From what I understand the manpower in China is meaningless unless Japan is not a war, which this scenario forces upon all comers. It is that way for all island nations, again from what I understand.
Yes. It's a stupid game rule (for instances, the vast manpower provided by British India cannot be modelled in game). Has that been fixed in HoI3?

Actually, you can fix that issue yourself. Look for a file called "japanmanpower.txt" in the events folder. If you delete the "ai_only" flag, japan gets manpower for territories on the mainland via event. There's also a corresponding event taking manpower away in case those provinces are lost. You can use that as a template for the British getting manpower from India, etc.

Update XII - July 1, 1941 - January 1, 1942
As I expected Argentina gets wiped out by the US. So lets move on and not cry for Argentina.
At this point, pretty much all of Europe is under France's control. Only the UK, Gibraltar, and parts of northern Russia remain. Russia has pretty well collapsed, so they should be gone soon. For some reason France hasn't advanced along the Mediterranean coast and is instead only advancing down the Nile.
French forces have advanced into southern Sudan and western Ethiopia, and now have a border with Gabon.
Now, lets get to the real excitement in this update. Japan just smashed through the Chinese lines in the last six months. By my count they lost one province to China, and took 27, for a net gain of 26. The red line on the map shows where Japans border was last update. Just when it looked like Japan was starting to falter, they surprised everyone, especially the Chinese. France continues to push through Persia, and has now reached the border of Afghanistan, so expect them to soon be into India. India has managed to kick Japan out of southern India, and continues to hold them back in Burma. And except for one province in Tibet, the Indian and Chinese borders has not changed.

Who'll overtake it though? If the US don't make a landing then India, China, and Japan will be fighting mostly amongst themselves letting France have a breather.
It'll either be a easy US conquest or an interesting Japanese-French slugfest the way I see it.
