Are the more expensive vacuum cleaners like the Dyson models that don't loose suction worth the extra money? Anyone tried them out?

Cheap vacuum cleaners are an expense best passed on. If you are going to lie to yourself about having cleaned the carpeting by pushing something around that isn't doing much of anything, just use a broom.

Translation: yes, good vacuums actually work and are worth having even at the extra cost. They also have lifespans that make them cheaper per use than "cheap" vacuums.

Well, I've had my current cheap Bissell vacuum for just under a decade. It worked pretty well, but the extendable arm recently broke off, and as it originally only cost the equivalent of about $70 US, I guess I got a pretty decent deal at the time. On the other hand, the Dyson vacuums seem to start around $400 US. That's a big difference in cost, and I'm not sure the performance difference or the fact I can pass it onto my descendants makes it worth the extra money.

Pfffffft! Just use your mouth and a hose!

Trump lied when he said he wasn't planning on expanding his legal team because he immediately hired attorney diGenova.
Except the announcement that diGenova was hired was a lie because he wasn't.
Two lies make one truth.

Q: did you post that in the right thread?

Is ‘the smell of hot lead’ an actual thing when shooting?

You smell the gun powder, not the lead. All of the propellant is burned to gas and soot. The projectile has just a very thin bit of its outer coating rubbed off in friction with the barrel. Too small to smell.

Although if you have an indoor shooting range without proper ventilation, breathing the lead could become an issue.

OK, so ‘the smell of hot lead’ is just some pseudo-poetic expression then.

I don't even know if lead has a recognizable scent. And, if it does, it would be a really bad idea taking the time to smell it.

Heh, yes, I'm addicted to heavy metal but not that way.

Does anyone around then remember if leaded gasoline has a different smell than unleaded gasoline?

I'm old enough to remember leaded petrol, but I don't recall it smelling different, no.

I don't think dyson's specifically are worth the money. They are double the price of anything comparable. I have a shark and it works really well. You can get many of their models under $200. So yes get a good vacuum but not the most expensive brand name imo.

Dyson vacuum cleaners really suck!

Spoiler :
sorry, that's my favorite bit of wordplay; I can't resist an opportunity to use it. I have no actual knowledge of Dysons. My impression is that they're one of those products that is overpriced because it's overpriced, justifies its greater cost by its greater cost.

@Timsup2nothin I bought a vacuum cleaner pretty cheap that seems to work pretty well. Not sure how long it's going to last though.

I sold my vacuum last week. Well, it was just collecting dust....

On a more serious note, I'll second the recommendation for a Miele vacuum.

I actually just bought 6 tubes of toothpaste, a new toothbrush I don't need yet, 2 bars of hand soap, bodywash, and 3 sticks of deodourant because I couldn't decide which one I liked the smell of the best. HELP ME
