The world considers me a villian.

The vote interval for the AP is 9 turns. So even if they forced peace, you've only got 1 turn remaining by the time the "give city back" comes along. So it's very easy to redeclare at that point.

Even easier, however, is to get a Cease Fire as soon as the "forced peace" vote comes up. Then, even if the resolution passes, you can immediately redeclare war.

a bit exploitive, isn't it?

Most of the game is exploitive in one fashion or another. But I'm not advocating doing that, I'm just pointing out available options. It's never really come up for me, as I either build the AP, or don't have any cities with the AP religion, generally speaking.

I think it takes 10 turns to be able to redeclare war after a cease fire.
I still accept it usually and then reorganise my army so he won't get another chance. You do get double diplo penalties this way though.

No, it takes 10 turns to be able to re-declare war after a peace treaty. With a cease-fire, you can re-declare war immediately.

Diplomacy is - and i mean for real - all about cheating and exploiting, so there is nothing wrong with exploting it in the game :D. Stuff like Voting yes, on "Stop War Resolution", then in the same turn take one more City and let the enemy capitulate - it's peace after all :D

AFAIK The -5 unhappiness lasts for two AP voting cycles in cities with the same religion as the AP, which I thought was 20 turns but from Bhruics post appears to be 18. It is also cumulative in that if you defy another vote right after, you get another -5 tacked on for another 20 turns, and so on and so on.
