They're All Barbarians.

I still have to understand why some people treat me as if I'm Zeus reincarnate, Vulcan lightning bolts included :p Feel free to criticize ...

What? I 've been lied about this? (well I don't like conflicts, but I can use the :whipped: more frequently if you like :D)

everyone remembers that Fox was the last one to criticize you :mischief:

right before he disappeared...

Oh, so rolo doesn't like chasing young innocent women dressed up like a bull? That's indeed new to me.

Wait, there are still young innocent women in this world ? That's news to me :p ( P.S Nocho, projection is not a healthy thing to do :p )

And @ pholk , I do not have Fox buried in my backyard , if is that you're implying :D

If r rolo1 has finished swanning around we could get back to the game......

Harbours add tasty health and 50% traderoute income so I'm tempted to divert to compass before ploughing through feudalism.

Indian decimation seems to be the concensus.

Qin will give mono for peace, the roman barbarian will slip us 50g so he can focus on his two other wars.

Does r rolo1 have a front garden?

double posted... to be filled with gibberish at some point.

edit: gibberish: harbour boost applies to 2+ base value but it applies per trade route not per city so 4 stays 4 but 8 goes to 12 which is a bit synergistic with Glight.

A peace treaty with the barbarian Qin is meaningless because it will take 10+ turns to chew through indian barbarians before qin becomes a target anyway.

I'm ok with making peace with the chinese and the Romans for now, in spite of stating that we should kill QSH as soon as possible.

Harbors are not that hot in BtS :D Just look at the discrimination of the trade route bonuses and you will see that the contrbution of 50% is meaning less ... and worse , only noticeable if the trade route has 2 coins of base value. It is a ok build for our starting island and for some of the coastal cities of the mainland, but I'm not so sure if it is a big thing in the overall.

Yes, drive the Indians out of India atleast.

And, no , I don't have a front yard :p

Hah! And yet, not a denial . . . . so watch out, RRR! :D

i think we should hit india some more, but maybe work on some butter rather than guns for our tech path...edu or banking (thru feudal and guilds) as a goal works for me.

circling back to fox, it always bothered me baout his disappearance. iirc, he took a break to do some exercises w/the army and never came back :(

Still haven't played. Now debating going for feudalism and switching to vassalage instead of bureau. Any thoughts? Also debating swopping some builds to wealth to increase research rate.

dont have my civ comp in front of me, but is it worth the trip, ie, how many techs to go? if one, i say, go for it. more than that...hmmm...

Vassalage makes a lot of sense with the size of our army and with all the conquering we'll have to do. Besides, we have the bureau-hater extraordinaire on board, so I think it'd be a good call. Wealth is certainly a good option to increase our research rate, imo.

Lurker comment: I... have never used Bureaucracy...

By the time I tech to CoL, I would have built enough markets to expand too far away for B to be effective, or so I presumed, since I would be building to block enemy cities...

Well try it, since it is quite effective provided you have a nice grassy cottaged capital. Even with 15 cities (high maint). THe idea is to couple it with an academy and OXford so the return u get from that maint is decent (target at least 300 beakers). Keep in mind sometimes u haven't the luxury to have huge amount of cities prerennaissance. :)

@Pigswill: Yes to vassalage! (then I will be arguying for guild and better workshops :D).

@Pholk: I will be cautious. You never know. :scan:

Well, that was b********s

1090. Peace with Qin the barbarian for mono+35g, peace with the roman barbarian for 55g. The russian barbarian and her german lapdog ain't interested. Feudalism in 8 turns. Army heads into the indian subcontinent.

1100 a dull year

1110 Settle GG as MI in Nara. 100%def/2% per cat per turn. hmmm. Bits of sabotage. Switch some cities to cash, raise slider, feudalism in 5.

1120 the chinese barbarians are vassals of the mongolian barbarian.

1130 Start NE in Tokyo. The russians barbs are not content with a faux war, stack of 10 units appear on borders of Shimoneoski, all our units are down south, 6 turns away .

1140 despite splashing out cash on upgrading archer to xbow and spear to pike Shimeosnki falls to the red army!
Down south lose 7 cats and a couple of sams on indian barbarian city with 60%defence and a stack of defenders, captured and razed but a pyrrhic victory indeed.

1150.

Which bit of no doesn't he understand? He's furious.

1160 More russian barbs turn up, dispatched but with losses.
Southern army heals up ready to head north.

1170 feudalism is in, start guilds. Debate using GM for GA, defer.
GS appears, academy or settle or bulb philo or half next GA?
Whip NE in Tokyo.

1180. Lose trireme up north to barb galley!
Cat's stackette leaves Shimeonski and heads into mongol barb territory. Got a few units screening up north. Stack heading slowly north ready to recapture Shimeonski.
Can't afford a two front war so get peace down south:

Quickly settle a new city:

And we get a view of the teeming barbarian hordes:

Good luck!

We probably should throw a golden age and swop civix.

Those Russians are really barbarians, aren't they! I guess we should seek to recapture Shimeonseiki and then sign peace. It does start to look like a bit of an uphill battle though.

Am I up? If that'd be the case I'll need a couple of days...

Uphill battles are much more interesting than casual strolls to victory.

This medieval warfare stuff is certainly tedious.

Maybe we should beat up Cat enough to get peace then hole up and tech towards steel. GK may well declare on us sooner rather than later, fortunately he's only the barbarian who's behind us on tech.
