Things I Learned About The World Through CivV

226. There is only one kind of open borders, which gives both civilizations the ability to march unlimited military units into each other's territory. This won't bring in any kind of mutual free-trade or cultural benefit (although some leaders will claim otherwise), and a civilization's leader can't bring in a small team of scouts\spies to survey the situation; only large groups of soldiers may enter (small groups are ok if they used to be a large group and were decimated in an earlier battle).

229. When a country is about to lose a besieged city to their opponent, signing the deed to a neutral country will immediately catapult the enemy hundreds of miles back to their own lands.

230. This process can be repeated as often as the world powers find it hilarious.

231. The Ken line of Barbie dolls was modeled after Alexander the Great of Macedonia.

240 - Major land invasions are often spearheaded by unarmed labourers

241 - Prehistoric sailing vessels can sneak in between destroyers and battleships to destroy whole army corps in convoy

242 - It's a tiresome urban myth that the population and wealth of Earth are concentrated overwhelmingly near the coasts, and that transport of goods has always been easier by sea than over land. In fact, the sea is a largely useless and barren obstacle, and shippers will send goods tens of thousands of miles by rail before they'll even think about boating them across a single water tile (25% production bonus).

243 - Handguns only work at point blank range, to which modern infantry must close while archers pick them off at will.

244 - The end result of a fanatically religious policy is religious tolerance. In fact, this is the only way freedom of religion can come about.

245. Great Generals can command an army and improve their efficiency by 20% exactly. The Chinese and Mongols produce the best Great Generals. However, generals are totally incapable of defending themselves.

249. Modern military moves no faster, and in many cases much slower, than the Mongolian hordes did.

250. Civilians and military generals are so xenophobic they refuse to come into direct contact with a single person from another civilization. Soldiers, however, appear be much more open-minded.

251. All open borders agreements are done in writing. Resource sales, monetary loans, and peace treaties, however, are done on the honor system.
