I have only been posting at civfanatics forums for a little less than two months now, and when I joined, I did so with the expectation that it would be as any other forum- 35% trolls and people who want nothing but to put whoever they can down, perhaps 40% of the forum being taken by usrs tht tlk lk thiss. The remaining quarter or so might be children, or the occasional guy who know what he's talking about(presuming that none of those groups overlap, which they probably would). I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was packed to the brim with educated folk who's company I quite enjoy.

I would likely compare my impressions on you all to the same way Thomas Jefferson felt about the members of the constitutional convention. It really goes to show just what demographic the Civilization series applies to.

So I would like to thank the wide majority of you that end up reading this post, for your outstanding civility, intellectualism, and company.

I sometimes troll and every once in a while tht tlk lk thiss. But in general I have found civ sites, this one here and the original "official" site (before they ask people in off-topic to cool it, about 15 years ago) to attract a very debatable bunch.

You make me feel bad for not making more quality posts. :(

Give it some time, you'll soon realize that most of us post from under bridges. :mischief:

We at CFC are intellectuals, after all.

We troll. We're just selective about it.
Or our trolling is more sophisticated, like the sophisticated tactics Zheng-He used to defeat Alexander the Great's Slavic army in the Battle for Mars by utilizing his Protestant Work Ethic.

Joking aside, MantaRevan is right and we're glad to have you.

Well compared to the rest, one could call us advanced. I don't think it would be especially warranted though. We're just a different collection of crazy people.

He is kind of right, most other forums I've visited are varying degrees of terrible. CFC-OT is certainly a step up.
Although a lot of smaller forums are much more polite and freindly you just don't get such a large selection of interesting people.

Edit: I can't think of anywhere else where Commies, Libertarians, Enviromentalists, Evangelists and so on (and even a few pseudo-Nazi's) could remain as relatively civil as you lot do :) .

Alexander the Great's Slavic army

Thanks, that made my day

But, yea, I also have only recently been frequenting and posting in the OT, though I have visited the forums and occasionally and posted/mostly lurked off and on since 2008. I think this time I might actually stick around though, the old anime/gaming forum I frequented most has been slowly dying and nobody there likes to debate the issues of the day anymore in the OT section. This place feels pretty international too, at least in comparison to most of the places I frequent on the internet.
