This is India.

Eh, you should probably provide a concise summary of the article's main points in the opening post if you want people to react.

A Hindu fascist politician died. Some girl posted on FB that he wasn't too important and shouldn't be mourned. Another girl liked it. They were both arrested.

Not easy to run country with 1,3 billion people as democracy...

Vande Mataram
I show gratitude to thee, Mother,
richly-watered, richly-fruited,
cool with the winds of the south,
dark with the crops of the harvests,
The Mother!

Her nights rejoicing in the glory of the moonlight,
her lands clothed beautifully with her trees in flowering bloom,
sweet of laughter, sweet of speech,
The Mother, giver of boons, giver of bliss.

Maybe start by not arresting people for expressing their opinion on facebook.

Interesting bit from the article:

After the comment was posted, a mob of nearly 40 Shiv Sainiks allegedly barged into Dhada's uncle's orthopaedic hospital at Palghar and vandalised the place yesterday. However, no arrests were made in connection with the attack.

But 2 teenage girls are immediately arrested if someone complains about what they posted on Facebook.

The political party that dude belonged to is a far-right group that's in a coalition I think with the ruling party, call themselves Shiva's Army. Extremely opposed to Muslims, the leader had described them as a "cancer" to be rooted out. They were also opposed to Western influence, had tried to ban English signs and English movies. Also opposed to people who didn't speak the native language and was opposed to migrant workers from other parts of India and was responsible for attacks against them, and many migrant workers had fled.

They're real class acts.

I got the impression that the girls have been released, and the upper government wants an investigation and charges against whoever decided to arrest them. Seems like a relative non-issue.

I think you mean Afghanistan for the shooting.

But Iran and Saudi Arabia (where women can't drive) aren't doing bad in the keep women down department either.

A bigger problem in India, however, would be the still very present caste sytem mindset, and child labour, without which the extremely poor hardly can survive.

Pakistan is interesting out here; I'd say if you asked a bunch of Westerners, 70% of them wouldn't know a damn thing about it. And it's pretty high up there on the list of "states The West should really be paying attention to".

One girl getting shot by an extremist is indicative of country's attitude to women? Really...

The northwest of Pakistan looks a lot like Taliban controlled Afghanistan.

Which is well-known, I should think.

I doubt it. I have never heard North American media so much as mention that.

Disgusting, this is.

Quick, somebody blame Islam.

Shoot, someone already brought up Pakistan.

Anyway, if the Mohammedans aren't so violent and traitorous and a cancer to all things then Shiv Sena wouldn't exist as a defender of Hindu values so ultimately this is all the Mussulmans fault.

Good enough?
