This is my boomstick!!!!

I built 2 spies, they are both moving toward our northern most city. Roosevelt has many techs we could steal and we have 2800 ESP's to do so. That is enough for Machinery and Civil Service plus more i believe.

Diplo wise I feel like we are in Mehmeds camp. If we go to War I would defintely target Roosevelt. We have a rather mediocre stack mainly meant for defense, around 15 units with 7 Cats in our most nothern city. A miltary campaign meant to take a city and then trade peace for Techs seems like a good option to me, but this should wait until we still some more techs.

From the save I have to say we are in a pretty good shape empire wise. Economically we are trailing :p but with CH's soon and building wealth in some cities we might be able to get things back into shape. 21 beakers per turn is just lol.

1) Hastings should get another worker going after the CH and then start on a university if we want Oxford. The worker gets cracking on the forests around the capital so we get that forge and university up and running.
2) Roosie and Hatty do not want to speak to us anymore. Bummer. Roosie had 12 gpt for trade. I see now that we caved in to Mehmed to cut our deals with Roosie. I guess we better keep Mehmed as a friend then.
3) Canterbury finishes CH and starts on uni and then builds muskets. We might need them. Roosie has quite the army and he is not happy with us.
4) The worker at Torquay should finish the cottage and then start on the forested plains hill with a mine. We need production over there.
5) Spies towards Roosie should focus on Civil Service first.
6) I see that we are still running slavery :p A revolt would save us 5 gpt. We should have done that a long time ago hahaha. Focus on Civil service and then with the revolt switch out of slavery.
7) I love Brighton. Only just settled but paying itself back big time. And it brings in another happy.
8) Do we need the warrior in the SE lower part of the island? Disbanding him would save us another gpt.

I do think that we still have to focus on infrastructure. We are falling incredibly behind. Once we get to rifling we might be able to catch up a little more but we need a better base since we are nowhere near our goal.

I planned for The warrior in the SE is just gonna finish Defogging the continent and then I planned to disband him. I believe there is some silver and Iron down there with if there is seafood would be worthwhile city, which we cant afford.

I agree Brighton is a great city and I feel we should have settled it long ago.

we could also stop fog busting the south with those two chariots.. we ahave the GWall so barbs dont matter and if the barbs want to build a fur city that is fine.

1) Hastings should get another worker going after the CH and then start on a university if we want Oxford. The worker gets cracking on the forests around the capital so we get that forge and university up and running.

Yes I agree however I would leave the forests around the cap alone for the time being and chop out the infra at Hastings.

3) Canterbury finishes CH and starts on uni and then builds muskets. We might need them. Roosie has quite the army and he is not happy with us.

I agree. I would actually like to start building a whole bunch of muskets all over the place once the required infra (uni's and CH's) is up.

4) The worker at Torquay should finish the cottage and then start on the forested plains hill with a mine. We need production over there.

I would fire the priest and mine the hill but leave the rest of the forests alone for the time being.

6) I see that we are still running slavery A revolt would save us 5 gpt. We should have done that a long time ago hahaha. Focus on Civil service and then with the revolt switch out of slavery.

Revolt into? Bureaucracy and tribalism?

8) Do we need the warrior in the SE lower part of the island? Disbanding him would save us another gpt.

I will check it out and disband. Also the chariots.

This graph worries me greatly:

Although I reckon a builder set is in my future for here, I really think we need to start thinking of getting some men-at-arms.

Hi team. Apol's for little input lately - somewhat time pressed.

Thanks for the turnset Cree.

I'd suggest that there are some little things that can be tweaked here and there, but overall we're doing fine.

I think politically that we've taken the right path in siding with Mehmed. It could have been a very short game otherwise.

I've got no problem with going into Caste over Slavery () and working to get that/those Great Scientist(s) out now that they bulb Compass, and instead we can build Academies / merge them into a city.

We should nominate six cities for Universities, and I propose; London, York, Nottingham, Hastings, Canterbury, and Coventry. Two of these are production hubs, but will get the buildings up quickly.

Hinduism missing in Nottingham and Brighton ...

Brighton is a fair fringe city of no strategic value. At 3:hammers: with no Slavery, and a total of six tiles that aren't either Coast/Ocean or overlapping our capital, I can't see why it could be considered to be "great". We have been scrambling to get out Settlers for strategic advantage, which is why we didn't settle that spot long ago. Eventually it will start to pay for itself, but I'm hardly excited by it.

I agree that Civil Service would be super-handy, and Machinery after that. Roosevelt's producing 71:espionage:/Turn and not building any Spies (?). I'd not be upset if we built a couple more Spies ourselves if we're going to try and get these two tech's, although others on the roster may be more lucky than myself with regard to having our Spies caught 'causing trouble'.

Military defense wise we are not in horrible shape. Roosevelt is sorta low on siege and his target city is walled on a hill. Our front is really narrow and we can focus all our meager strength in one spot. I actually had reached a point here I didnt want to build more units becuase our economy so poor.

Also we can likely bribe in Mehmed if we get attacked.

a round of CHouses, then Unis and open oxford. Coupled with stealing civil service and adopting Buer, and hopefully getting out an academy and our tech pace should bounce.

Cam, still think monarch is too low? ;)

I posted an apology yesterday and it seems the post disappeared. I was ill all weekend and not near a pc until yesterday. I will play today unless anyone has any further input.

No problem, I had some problems with the forum too. Looking forward to the update. Go Woop :)

So I finally played.

I do apologise for the delay but here is a my report:

Not much happening except hitting enter and building muskets here and there.
Around turn three we get the following event:

event1s.png

I choose to convert 2 cities and Newcastle and Brighton gets insta-Hindu.

The spies are moved to Roosy's cities. He'll talk to us again but won't make any trades as yet.

AP Vote:

I vote yes.

My first spy fails to steal CS.

AP Fails:

My second spy, however, manages to grab:

YAY!

Roosy has completed Sistene.

Workers are building, we are one turn from Feudalism. Economy is in the toilet and Hatty still won't speak with us. Our civ has 5mil souls now.

Thanks for the turnset woopdeedoo. 'Yay!' on that religious event.

We should trade Wheat to Roosevelt.

Acquiring Civil Service and therefore chain irrigation opens possibilities for further growth. For instance, we can look at chain irrigating up from 'The Waters of Life'-Rice up to the London-York Corn and along York's eastern boundary to improve the rate of citizen growth in both of those cities, which are almost fighting over that Corn.

We've got one more Worker than # cities, but there does seem to be a lot of opportunity for further tile development. I'm not sure if more Workers are needed or whether we should be using what we've got in a more structured manner.

It's good that we've made a start on the Universities. I'd get cracking on one in Canterbury, and consider dropping one of the Priests in Coventry for the Mine, and starting on the Uni' after the Forge there.

I must confess that I'm still a bit confused with our war plans and the hoarding of units in Canterbury. Are we going to hit Roosevelt-Hatshepsut before we get to Rifling Nationalism?

On Machinery ...

Due to our variant, if we pop a Great Engineer in London (currently 23% in three turns) they must be bulbed toward Machinery. Therefore, I'd be mindful of making too many bold moves in terms of civic swaps until we know 'the lay of the land' in that department. Switching into Vassalage (with the other civic swaps) and possibly getting Mehmed up to 'Friendly' so that we can trade Machinery from him might be one option if we don't spawn a Great Engineer. The other option is to try and steal it from Roosevelt, which is what I assume that Spy south of Canterbury is ultimately aiming to achieve. I'd not object to us building another Spy in preparation for a failed theft attempt however.

Ah the next turnset is played. Good job Wooop. I will check the save later. Thank god we have CS and an usefull event. By god we need them :)

Can we bribe Mehmed to go to war with either one of them? We need the AI to waste units otherwise they will be all piled up untill we DOW on all of them which is not good :p

So the rule is we have to DOW everyone the turn we get rifling? Or the turn we get nationalism and can start the draft?

If that is the case I agree we need to start some war before that, we are miles away from being ready to backstab mehmed.

4) When we reach rifling and have nationalism then switch to nationhood and draft the maximum amount of rifles for at least 5 turns (there go the angries). After that we have to declare on the whole continent war. Lets just hope we have enough cities by then to draft :p If we do not have nationalism we have to tech that asap and then switch to nationhood asap.

Read above for AW time.

Though drafting won't get rid of angries

Hum do we have to Bee-line nationalism post rifling? This doesnt seem to be specified but I vote we have to.

However...

Can we purposely slow tech post rifling to maximize build up or warring on Roosy prior to our Nationalism world conquest? This may be good not only rule bending wise but could be a good startegy to get alot of rifles fast via old unit upgrades to smash Roosevelt.

Ofcourse if we delay nationalism too long we may know all the other continents=WW1!

My intention was to beeline Nationalism asap. I just didn't know for sure if Nationalism was on the tech path to rifling :p

About the drafting and the angries. We get 1 angry as far as I know for hell no we won't go but we are going to 2 pop draft for rifles right?

Ok PPP:

1) Mehmed has some spare money, so lets beg with our big buddy.
2) Roosie has 13 gpt for trade. Lets get it. It will slow him down and speed us up.
3) If only Hattie would trade. She has 330 gold and all the good techs. But she doesn't even want to talk to us :( But wait the tech screen says she wants to trade with us, but when I dial her up she says go away. What the...
4) By god, I never wanted to use the whip as much as now. Capital fires the two scientist and get the production going on an uni. Our capital can grow 2 sizes more. Lets get going on that.
5) We need chain irrigation at our capital to York. It is going to be a lot of work but it is worth it. I will start from the rice below and farm the forest just outside the BFC of our capital. Will speed up uni and we finally can get some wet corn.
6) Canterbury. Finish musketman, get uni. Switch to grassland mine and grassland cottage instead of plains hill and plain farm. I would even want to suggest we start windmilling the hills over there when we steal machinery.
7) Newcastle can build Maoi in 6 turns. I guess it is our best city for it.
8) Even though we have chain irrigation we do not get a chain from the AI farm Liverpool. I thought that would go automatically. At least fire spy in Liverpool and work forest for extra production.
9) Hastings is not growing. Switch unimproved hill for unimproved grass land. I think we may need some more workers.
10) Brighton should work the grassland hill. It increases its production by a lot. Last grassland should be improved with a workshop.
11) Civic changes. Definitely get Bureau and then switch out of slavery to spare some coins.
12) I guess the first thing we still need is our infra to get out right. Our beachhead is well protected now but everything else sucks. Never knew that a set tech path would screw up so many things.
13) Nottingham finishes CH, then builds spy, then uni.
14) Coventry: Switch to scientist and work more tiles.
15) Torquay: Work the plains hill instead of the desert hill. This way the desert hill is freed for nottingham.

Overall as I said, we need infra and more spies to learn some stuff from Roosie. By the rate we are going right now we end up getting rifling and the enemy has infantry :p

Roster:
Roy (up)
Cam (on deck)
Cree
Woop

Killroyan,

Like the plan ... 2 cents ...

London: Keep the Scientists as we've never had a better chance of popping a Great Scientist for an Academy. If we get a Great Engineer, he must be used for Machinery, which will impact other choices. I assume a Great Spy heads up to Roosevelt's lands for infiltration.

Canterbury: Needs Farms and Mines. I'd chop the Forest in the inner north west, and chain irrigate around (and over that unworked Cottage) so that we have Farms on all of the Grassland. This city is a production hub.

Maoi: I think that Newcastle is a good suggestion. Brighton's got terrible productivity, and would benefit from Maoi Statues, but I'd prefer to bolster the value of Newcastle.

Nottingham: Cough up the 'Waters of Life' tile to Warwick which needs food so it can be a bit more productive - e.g. so it can work a Mine on the currently forested Grasslands Hill.

Machinery's an interesting one: As per earlier, we can see whether we get a Great Engineer to bulb almost all of it ... or we can try to steal it from Roosevelt ... or we can flip into Vassalage (Mehmed's fav. civic) and get him to 'Friendly' so that we can open trades with him again, where hopefully he'll self research it and we can trade for it.
