Yeah. So i was talking to my friend Amy today and we got to the discussion of guilty pleasures. She was saying things like, "You wouldn't believe it but I like disco."

Well, I knew I had her beat so I said, "Yeah? Well I only watch three things on TV: CNN, Adult Swim, and the History Channel."

I was expecting her to laugh but she said, "That's so dorky its really hot!"

Now, this girl is attractive, dance team, friend with the cheerleaders. You know the type. And she finds that hot in a guy. WTH?!?!

Any one have any similar experiences?

what? i meant instances of the opposite sex being attracted by dorkiness?

:p

My girlfriend always jokes with me that I'm "geeky hot"... I don't care - She's about two "hotness leauges" above me so I'll take it.

 I own that shirt.

I never had such experiance in this.

I have had similar experiences. I don't think its the geekiness that is hot, but the general being-your-self-ness of it.

When I was at college girls seemed to find geekiness of any kind a real turn off, unless they were geeks themselves, I have seen nothing since then to dissuade me from the idea that geekiness is not attractive, apart from an advert on pro biotic yoghurt ;) It's lucky I never come across as a geek in converstion, otherwise I'd never get a date, I mean unless your Brad Pitt that sort of geekiness is going to turn most ladies off, sadly. I too like to watch the history channel and read philosophy occasionally and muse upon who is the best captain of the Enterprise, but I'm sure as hell not going to let a prospective GF know that, at least not until I've acheived some sort of relationship anyway. However I'm also aware being geeky is a turn on to some girls, although I've never seen it in action.

A friend has a t-shirt which reads "No place like 127.0.0.1". It's an instant nerd identifier (yes, I got put in the nerd category).

was she being serious?

when my girlfriend saw me playing civ the other night she asked me if it was a game for 5 year olds-just told her to go back to watching big brother.

My girlfriend takes endless pleasure in making fun of my Battlestar Gallactica addiction. Calls it a "Soap Opera for little boys"

:)

This is what I experienced also over the years. I've always been the most intelligent, winning the most prizes, having best marks from my school or city, beeing the best even in the whole country in certain matters, even in the whole Europe for other matters, everyone was jealous and if not, they admired me but considered I didn't need any help of any kind and mostly ignored me. As for girls, they are "afraid" to talk to me. The only way I can get closer to a girl is when they ask me to let them look in my papers at a test or exam, when my answers are 99% correct. And there's a boy in my class that is in the 9th grade being 18 years old, that steals phones, swears, is violent and all the other stuff, but he gets everyone (and every girl) to like/adore him. I don't know why...
