Thread to Report Issues with new xenForo version 2.2

edit3: aha, I found the search for my threads: right on the nav bar, under "my threads". strange place for it. but how to find someone else's threads?
Click on their profile and look at the tabs under their pc. Look for "Find"; hit the dropdown and choose.

EDIT: Ninjaed by Quiontillus

I can more accurately state the navigation problem I am having now.

The number keys (1, 2, 3, etc.) now navigate you to the corresponding area on the toolbar, whether it is sticky or not. 1 takes you to Home, 2 to Forums, 5 to Downloads, 6 to Civ6, etc.

It's trying to be useful, but winds up just conflicting with how I've been using those keys for the past 15 years in my browser.

I tried finding a way to disable that on my profile, but haven't succeeded. Might see if it works to just block all JavaScript on the forums, although that might have other undesirable effects. Still, non-disable-able keyboard shortcuts on websites are my pet peeve of web application design.

Now that I know what the problem is, my AltaVista'ing is yielding better results. Looks like it might not be easily fixable. But maybe I can write a Greasemonkey script for it.

P.S. Can we get more contrast between links and regular text?

Update: The suggestion someone posted to the XF forum about removing the data-xf-key didn't work, but when I created a Tampermonkey script that removed the navbar entirely, it did. Only one line of code:

Code:
document.querySelector(".p-nav-scroller").remove();

The obvious downside is it removes the navbar, but I think that might be preferable. I can always to to the home page if I want to see the navbar.

Also is it just me or is this forum slower since the update?

Also yes, the hotkeys are terrible. Anything that performs navigation through your software by an opaque mechanism like a keypress that isn't even related to the thing you are navigating to (numbers vs say a significant letter + alt like is standard on all programs) just looks and feels like the software is bugging out to the average user.

You want my opinion?
What is it with more and more sites going for "uglier means better", period?
Also, why the heck did it force me to change my account's e-mail, while blocking the one it used to be attached to as "already in use"?

I keep trying to put a space between lines and then it erases the space between the lines.

Like see how this text is in a different line? Well, if I keep typing long enough, it forces deletion of the line. I hit the 'enter' key three times for a new line, before I finished this and it left a line between the above sentence and this paragraph. No... make that four... FIVE times.

I'm not sure about this one. It seems to be a feature, not a bug. Not sure how to deal with that.

EDIT: Although, my empty lines here seem to work....
The theme I'm inflicted with is visually awful. When are we getting themes like blue, dark, green, etc. back?
When you make them ;).
Making the current 2 themes took like 5h, although I'm getting faster. I might take on the black one today, to have something with higher contrast.
As mentioned on the last pages, it is possible for you to create your own theme, and we'll consider it.
Also there is another thing, now every single tab has the number of notifications on top as part of the title which:
(a) is superfluous because I already have a tab for subscriptions and another for alerts (I know the country needs lerts)
(b) is actually bothersome because it takes up space in the tab header that would be better spent actually telling me what thread it is.
(c) is distracting, furthermore, because it keeps changing dynamically.

Also, why is CFC requesting my authorisation for push notifications? What are they?
You can tell in your profile settings to permanently disable push notifications.

For the notification number in the headline, I found that very annoying too. I think I should just have disabled it.

Your actual account should not have changed at all.
Please PM me with details.

That's another thing. Push notifications should NEWER be on by default.

I "fixed" it already (I have a spare e-mail, so I switched to it).
But when I first opened the forum today, I was unable to post anything "because I didn't have enough privileges to post".
And my account also asked me to "confirm the e-mail".
All fixed now (technically), so I won't bother with "details", but it WAS botched.
Also: I use Opera.

It's just you!!

We took a series of benchmarks before and after the change and they show a significant improvement in performance since the upgrade.

It seems I cannot set that to "off" by default :/.

I just had this case with another member: If your initial email bounced (which can be, e.g. because for a while we allowed posters to register without a valid email), then your posting rights now get revoked. I don't know why. I can fix that easily though, if I get a notification about it.
EDIT: Turns out this affected in total 5 members, which should all be back to normal now.

Nope.
I tried changing back to my previous e-mail, but got: "Email addresses must be unique. The specified email address is already in use."
Anyways, fixed now, albeit in a roundabout way, so doesn't matter.

I still find the new "style" to be utterly UGLY, lol.

mmhh... :dunno: it seems nobody else is using your previous email, and we have tons of users with your email provider, so no clue what has gone wrong there, sorry :/ :dunno:.

Out of curiosity just why did you abandon the old forum software in favor of this new thing? I mean, what was the gain in doing so?

I have just now been looking at my "Preference" screen. What is an "album" and what is a "resource"?

It was an upgrade to the latest version as the version we were running was out of support so no bug fixes or security patches.

Resources are downloads in the download database (I could not find a way to rename that...).
And we actually have an image gallery, where you can create your own albums (keep this civ-related please).
