Just need an 8.5% national swing compared to the 1999 referendum in order to get Western Australia over the line as a 4th "yes" state. Only 5% off a national majority, but referenda require a majority yes in 4 of the 6 states as well.

(we did our bit in the capital of course)

The question was not about what is possible. The question is about moral oughts. And monarchy ought to be abolished in any form in which it exists, by whatever means necessary.
even if it causes civil war? and please no more mention of killing

If Britain goes republic... I doubt Scotland would want to be part of UK anymore.

History question: do you think the English Civil War was, ultimately, in the long run, good or bad for our nation's governance?

I hate to break it to you, but England is doing a good enough job of making Scotland want to be independent as it is. This isn't the argument in favour of the Royal Family you think it is ;)

That's Australia. What about Britain?

Civil war comes after Charles.
Also, Scotland already doesn't want to be part of the Uk. I doubt the existence of the monarchy is what keeps it in.
yeah no. I would rather not see Britain to be in worse place than it is now thanks.

last time I heard the referendum for Scottish independence failed.

Yes, absolutely. It is a moral stain which must be destroyed. That it still exists and is earnestly defended today is a sad reflection of the sorry, unfree, backwards state of the world in which we presently live.

It's highly unlikely there will be "civil war", if you mean a military conflict.
Also, is there any evidence to support the claim that Scotland is less likely to vote for independence if there is a monarchy? Did the royals get used (at least to support staying in the union :D ) during the previous referendum for independence?

anyways here is 2 video on which European Monarchies are most likely to be abolished:
Britain isn't even on the top of the list. sure it isn't that secure BUT it isn't that low either. It is all up to Charles for now.

Isn't the Norwegian king pretty popular in his country?
Despite looking like an extra from the Benny Hill show.

The tourists would still visit the castles even without the flag to signify a royal is somewhere in the inner chambers.

Does The Monarchy Benefit The UK's Economy?

MONARCHY

A new report from business valuation consultancy Brand Finance has found that the British royal family is worth £67.5 billion. Even though assets such as the Crown Jewels and Buckingham Palace are worth at least £25.5 billion, much of the monarchy's revenue comes from its brand. Annually, it has an impact on the UK's economy to the tune of £1.8 billion. That includes a £550 million contribution to tourism, a £329 million crown estate surplus and a £150 million contribution to trade.

These valuations often confuse things by including the "crown estate" which is conceptually just public land, ie nothing inherently monarchical about it. A lot of that tourism is also tied to sites which would certainly continue exist. Like they're not going to dynamite the palaces, they might even use them more effectively as public assets.

I'd say just wait till end of 2022 and see what Charles makes of himself as Charles III...

This is just like when you know Elizabeth herself was made Queen when her father died... Just like now there was talk of British Empire falling and people being skeptical about her ability as a monarch.
Or heck how Queen Victoria died and then Prince Albert took over as Edward VII...
If British monarch has been able to survive so far I don't see it going anytime soon.
COMMONWEALTH although is whole different matter entirely.
