Tiny Civ VI update just landed

He won't look like jock if they base his design on his portraits like they have done with many of leaders so far.

Circling back to the point of CCP censorship, my worry is that if the team is so focused on commercialization in China, they may decide to heterosexualize him.

Clearly, the team takes great artistic license in their portrayal of any leader in Civ.

It's too bad we only see leaders from the hips up, or we might see him in some sweet knee-high leather boots.

Love the boots.

I am hoping for something a little softer. This hat would be fetching. Maybe this is his alternate "Out of The Closet" persona.

Hey they are so dedicated to portraits that we most likely see Sejong in his popular imagined portrait:

Even tough he might not looked anything like this.

I believe that's the same outfit as depicted here:

And portraits do not move, or talk, so when I say "creative license" I am recognizing that each and every leader portrayal in Civ VI is both a cartoon and a caricature.

China is very sensitive about how "western" media portray Chinese history.
Mostly it's movies but I suppose games fall into that category.

Even Marvel's Shang Chi was blocked in China because of the Mandrin AFAIK.
The Mandrin has been portrayed as an evil Hitler like figure that has disgruntled China.

Marvel even went so far as to change the comic book Mandrin (supposedly Shang Chi's father) to something else.

Still China blocked it.
And they have some laws to do so.

Last thing 2K+Firaxis want is to block sales of Civ VI in China...especially having released a Rulers of China pack,
giving China the most number of rulers and personas of any civ in Civ VI.
Actually Shang-Chi's father in the original Marvel comics was Fu Manchu (who originated in some novels). Since Marvel doesn't have the rights to that character anymore and he's a racial stereotype/yellow peril character, they made his father the "Mandarin" in the MCU. In the comics, the Mandarin was a separate character who was often the main villain of Iron Man. He was also portrayed similarly to Fu Manchu.
Pretty much all the MCU movies since Endgame have been banned in China, for one reason or another.

I don't really get Hong Kong being a separate City-State from China in the game (yeah it was a British colony for a while, but it's basically a Chinese city). So I don't really care about that. I do care that Lhasa wasn't made a City-State in Civ6. And no Kuala Lumpur or Melaka/Malacca in the game too....
Imagine if we had a City-State representing the Uyghurs in the game....like Khotan/Kashgar/etc

Yes, one can tell Kristina has a little something going on. That's what I'm hoping for with Ludwig.

And, yes, he was famously gay, so if his model is a Teutonic jock type, I'm going to wonder why.

Finally, a character model reveal that I can truly look forward to.
Since the leaked intro audio talks about fairy stories and enchanted castles, I doubt they'll go the Teutonic jock route.

I actually went to school in Hong Kong. 6 years! 😄

Oh you are right about Shang Chi.
I got it confused.

Ironically 80's Flash Gordon villain Ming got censored in the UK. Not China 🤔
