TJS1 -- Going on the Pill-age

Could we get a roster check?
Good question. What with the "everyone starts for 20T" idea, then skips and swaps and retirement, the roster from Post#1 was long since thoroughly SNAFU'd. IIRC, we started with Chox's T1-20, but looking back through my turnlogs, they're not at all uniformly distributed: I did T80-90 (i.e. 8th set, after a skip), T120-130 (12th set), and now T170-180 (17th set).

With one dropout/repeat in the 2nd-3rd round, and 6 players left in, that suggests to me that at least one of us -- possibly 2 of us -- might not have done a third turnset yet, but without trawling back through nearly 700 posts, I'm not sure who that might be. Another consideration is, who's waited the longest since their last turnset? I honestly can't remember now whether that's Lanz, Nathiri, or your good self...? Anyone know?

If not, I would suggest we simply go 'back' to the original Post#1 plan (you know, the one we've never actually followed!), but minus the 'Bird:
  1. tjs282 (Just played)
  2. Nathiri (Up next -- if Lanz is out until Thursday)
  3. Lanzelot (On deck)
  4. Robbus
  5. Elephantium
  6. Choxorn
How does that sound?

I actually think Russia will last more like 8 turns, based on the terrain. Moscow will fall in 3-4 turns.

I'm guessing we can finish this up in another 40-50 turns.

10 kill Russia
20 kill Byz and Dutch
30 kill Aztecs and Arabs
40 kill Carthage?
50 margin of error in case Byz takes longer

Amusingly, my timeline from early July was ambitious! Moscow fell on T2 (good job, choxorn!), and the Dutch are about to die, but the Byzantines are barely scratched so far. So:

RIGHT NOW is T20 in the quote.
5-6 kill Arabs
10-15 kill Aztecs (depends on how quickly we can get a task force put together in our core) and Byzantines (pushing out the horizon because of Dromon resistance)
30 kill Carthage or Ottomans? (hard to forecast this far)

Another consideration is, who's waited the longest since their last turnset? I honestly can't remember now whether that's Lanz, Nathiri, or your good self...? Anyone know?

Looking at "recent" saves...

tjs282 650 ad
choxorn 550 ad
elephantium 450 ad
robbus 350ad
nathiri 250ad

So Lanz has probably waited the longest. I think your plan for the roster looks good.

The Byzzies' remaining Dromons are mostly harassing our new northern coast, but that area is a long way -- by sail or road -- from our productive core, and their home coasts are even further.

Lanz may object, but if we're going for Conquest then all we need is kill. There's no compelling reason (apart from all their GWonders, which I'd class as 'Nice to have, but not really needed to win') why we couldn't just put the Byzzies on the back-burner for now, maybe chipping away slowly at them with sea-raids (they DoW'd us, so as long as we win the majority of the fights, WW won't be an issue), while concentrating on wiping out the Arabs (within the next turnset) and Aztecs (who appear to be short of resources -- their Galleys going north are carrying AA-units!) simultaneously, just to clear them off the board ("Abu and Monty: You are the weakest links. Goodbye").

Right now there are 2 Galleys of Zerks sailing across the Gulf of Amsterdam, a 3rd has just passed through the Straits of Maastricht (I offloaded the Zerks before I discovered -- via CAII's map-screen -- that the Aztec Galley is carrying units, so it won't attack), and a 4th is just off Haarlem. I'd intended to send those Galleys up to the Byzzie island-towns, but they could just as easily turn (back) south instead, and start raiding the Aztec coast(s); they could be reinforced by the Galleys and Zerks due to finish (can be rushed) in the core in 1-2 turns' time...

Why does Canute's Batsfjord Battlers only have 2 Berzerks instead of 3?

Canute was actually generated by an eKnight, but that e*Knight was then joined to one of the Knight-Armies near Baghdad, because it only had 2 units (and was low on HP) at the time. This was contrary to my usual practice with Armies, where the e*Unit takes the first slot, and then gets backed up with 2 (or 3) r/vUnits of the same type, but I didn't have another vKnight handy. Also, I wanted to build another Zerk-Army, for more wumms... :trouble:

However, when Canute's Army was formed, I only had those two (r+v)Zerks in the immediate neighbourhood (both had arrived overland, while the road from Kufah was still being built). Once Mecca has fallen, the vZerk garrisoned in Anjar, or the eZerk near Fustat -- or both, if the latter gets us an MGL for the Pentagon! ;) -- could be used as top-up.

Feels like I have played only one set so far (and the replay of Speedbird's set). So I definitely would love to get a chance to use all that nice new wumms we now got...
But today and tomorrow are out of the question. Perhaps I can take a look at the situation and prepare a pre-flight plan for Wednesday, give you a day to discuss and then play on Thursday?

I knew there was someone who hadn't played 3 sets yet. I'm fine with that, especially since you've waited longest to play, as Tusker points out. Soo...

You shouldn't (I hope!) need to do much planning though -- just get on with the slaughterin'!

Ok, better skip me, I got yet another date in for Wednesday. Next week I'm on vacation, then I can play more relaxed.
OK then. But you're in Baden-Wuerttemberg as well*, aren't you? So shouldn't you be spending the first week of your kids' summer vacation with them, instead of us? ;)

(*My sister-in-law lives near Freiburg, and will be bringing her older daughter up here the weekend after next for a pony-trekking holiday. Conversely, Niedersachsen drew the early-vacation straw again this year, so our boys are going back to school this week...)

So, Nathiri, I'm not re-posting the roster a third time(!), but looks like you're up after all. Go get 'em! :king::hammer::viking: :egypt::hammer::viking: :queen::hammer::viking::viking::viking:

Okay I'll have a good look over the save here.

Next week is already going to be their third week of vacation... (Guess, why I have so little time at the moment... ;)) And we'll be doing bicycle trips in the local area, so I should have some time for myself in the evenings...

At the enemy, of course - where all stout Viking weapons are always aimed!

(in all seriousness, I don't know why there's a (Byzantine) Settler in that Galley. Paging tjs282...)

Well the galley has to be returned to the coast I think for healing for the berserk and reinforcements.
