TM 01 - The alphabet games - America

cus I usually wait till I get a much larger force to attack
We had a huge technological advantage over the Aztecs, so any of our units is more than twice as strong as theirs. I also sold them the useless music tech for all their gold to avoid them from upgrading their bows to muskets.
The Win/lose ratio of the last turn set is 88/11 which is mainly due to the obsolete units the Aztecs had (I was mostly on the offensive side)

I see war declaration as a 3 steps process:
1. A surprise attack on the first turn to gain as much as possible (resources, workers, units in the field and of course - cities). In the first turn I took Atzcapotzalco that was in reach of our cavalry. That cities was defended by only 2 bows and the culture bonus was 40% which gave us almost 100% chance of taking in on the first turn with the four cavalries that I got their (only two were needed).
In the first Arab war I took 2 of their cities on the first turn that was next to our borders.

2. the second step is to handle the counter attack. In the case of the Aztecs it was with obsolete forces which made it short and easy. both the Arabs in their time and the Chinese send modern units which caused some casualties.

3. the third step is to march to their backyard and take off their cities. after the counter attack is over the AI will garrison most of his units in cities. you just have to march on with cats/cannons/artilleries and take them. usually this is done one city at a time, but the Aztecs were so backward.

good news guys I'm back, but I think I will wait out this game and jump in next civ, I have no idea what's going on.

We're winning:lol:

Hey Skunk,

Whats going on? We are on our way to dominating... Welcome back

And since we are so much on our way, I did a little fighting vs China Mostly. And cleaned out Monty (is that right?).

That about it. Oh I build some Jails and some Missionaries. We have some faiths which are very under valued... Christianity is one... It only brings I think 5 gold... Spread the faith if you have the time to build a Missionary... Oh I allmost forget... I did start some Monastaries, so we can keep the faith going...

The save, it is here

All in all it was a rather disappointing and slightly boring set...

Please do be advices rddc... Since we have so many units that need to go to the front I did leave many a goto.

I started a 2 way on China, 1 where we allready were SE of China and another 1 in the north... Troops are just about ariving there.

I also started gathering some troops down south to finish off Saladin...

Not a lot of details to report, just continued to conquer China. Sal is dead and ending that war helped WW. We got a Great Artist and he is on go-to to Chinese lands. Discovered Industrialism and went to Democracy because citizens are demanding emancipation (Astronomy was pre-selected, so it got our excess beakers).

China is down to two cities and should be done in the next turnset. We will be very close to 64% land area. It is currently at 56%.

In Conclusion:
Our empire lead the way all the game. We've started our domination crusade with England, got backstabbed by Saladin who dared to change his religion, killed him + Monty and the rest of England, and Finally we've whipped China from the map.

I'm sorry that my part of this game was a bit small, because of causalities.

Wow, nicely done and a good game all the way around. Good job everyone!

On to the next: Monty! What settings did you have in mind namliam?

I think Monty will be good for always war game !!!
I was thinking of the Hub map with either prince difficulty on small map or Noble on standard map.
Few more options I would set to make our life a bit easier: no tech trading, Epic speed, aggressive AI and raging barbs to train our units.

On the other hand, isn't Saladin next?
Saladin I would use for 1CC, small map, prince going for conquest on Epic or space on Normal.

Doh! Ya, I guess Sal is next. Pardon my illiteracy. :crazyeye:

The variants sound interesting. Other option would be to bump it up to Monarch for a typical ruleset.

Idea for a variant for Sal:
We must found Islam. If we fail, we must conquer the Islamic holy city.
Once we found/Conquered the Islam, we must spread it to all of our cities.
Once its done, to every city that we conquered from an enemy we must spread the Islam within 10 turns, or else we must give it back. If the opponent is finished, gift it to another AI, if there's no other AI, we won Conquest=P.
The tricky thing in this variant is that we can't build 12 missionaries and go conquer, cus the limit is 3, so we must advance a bit slow.
