A defenceless capital is scary with always war + raging barbarians on.
If we do not have Copper I prefer to go after Archery, so we can build
(resourceless) units with better strength.

I agree with Tratan we need to research Archery ASAP, I did not realize earlier that it is required for the UU of Mansa (first time using him). I would have done what Greyfox did, the tech and gold paid-off nicely assuming we do not lose our Capital to some wandering scout. We should build a Warrior or at least have one 2 turns from completion in the queue while we finish the Work boat. Use the existing warrior to find our targets. I think we should build a Barracks after the first Work Boat and have a Warrior ready (either done or in the queue for 1-2 turns). After we get Archery, complete Bronze Working and Iron Working. While we are researching the metals techs create a stack of 4-5 Skirmishers and use to either take or raze some cities. If the combat odds are too low for taking cities, pillage like there no tomorrow to prevent the build up of decent units.
I think we need to 3-4 Swordsmen with 2-3 Axemen for a decent SOD to blast through Genghis, assuming he is closer to us than Napoleon. I think we should concentrate on Genghis first because this UU is a pain and will be available to him before Napoleon gets his. Also Genghis will probably be spamming loads of Settlers so, the sooner we get rid of him the better. I do not think we will need create any settlers of our own initially since we will hopefully be able to take Genghis/Napoleons Capital and 1-2 others from each and thus get us our 4-5 initial cities before we can afford more.
I think our starting location will be easily defendable with 2 units (one Skirmisher with one Axeman). From the North-West hill (other silver) we should be able to stop any barbarians/invasion force.
After some more thought, it might be best to use Shirmishers with Axemen as pillaging parties to keep both of our neighbors without useful units until we build up enough forces to take them out of the game. We should also get Sailing after the metals are complete to able to defend our fishing nets.
Last note, I finally got Warlords last night and installed it, I am good to go.
'got it' playing now. I will go for archery after BW, not because of copper, but for slavery. I think we can defend our city (on hill) with warriors first, after archery whip some UU.
I disagree on the barracks, we need the numbers fast and sending
them out for fog busting, but most of all to hinder the AIs to improve
their lands and hook up the strategic resources. I don't care about
paying supply costs for our units. It's better to have our units in their
territory than the other way around.
Sailing is indeed a must. The AIs love to send out triremes to pillage
fishnets. Those tiles need to be protected.
I made some suboptimal moves with the warriors, sorry. We found the mongols, no copper, archery in 9 turns.
Details:
Turn 23 (3310 BC)
Spot a lion, warrior was on hill, but lost the battle
Workboat just finished, so next turn started another warrior.
Turn 30 (3100 BC)
Warrior ready, should have sent to discover our continent, but fortified. I don't know what was I thinking Started another for defend.
Turn 32 (3040 BC)
BW in, revolt to slavery. Reseach hunting.
Next turn the warrior to put the overflow to the workboat.
Next player can move 1 warrior out the capital to discover what I failed. Workboat in 2 turns, archery in 9. Good luck.

No copper, I'm not surprised. Most starts don't have copper or it's
very faraway. So, Sailing, Iron Working and Animal Husbandry are
prioritized. After that we should focus on techs required for our
new cities.
The next player will face the first wave of barbarians around 2400 BC.
I think we should prioritize Iron Working over Sailing. It is still early in the game and I think the nets are still safe for a little while more. However the Barbarians will be starting soon, we will need some decent defenders stationed on the other silver hill. Skirmishers are what we need ASAP to protect ourselves from them and our neighbors. Also I think since we do not see Copper on the map we need to know if there is any Iron we can get at. This will also tell us if Genghis has Iron within his control, if he (or Napoleon) does then we should get skirmishers pairs out there to find all the metals and keep them from our neighbors until we destroy them. We also have a Barracks that has been partially started by Greyfox, think after the Workboat we should continue it or at least for one turn, so as not to lose the hammers that have been invested in it.
After we get one or two Skirmishers done we should get a Worker built to get the silver hill mined. Another thing we may need to build is a settler for an Iron city, since there is no close Copper.
Builds
In 2770BC our capital completes its workboat and begins work on a worker. It can build a barracks after the worker. I do however, put one turn of production into the barracks to prevent hammer decay. Once the worker completes, I set it to build a skirmisher.
Research
We finish archery and start iron-working.
Tile-Improvements
Our new worker is working on the road.
War
We lost a warrior (our scout) to a Mongol archer. He was chasing us, backed us against the coast-line, and finally catches us in forests (no forested hills around) before killing us. Oh well.
Foreign Affairs
The French, the Vikings, and the Germans adopt slavery. A French archer is roaming around outside our city.
I selected Animal Husbandry and now realized that I should have selected sailing, sorry . I whipped our second skirmisher when it was one turn from completion so that a third Work Boat could be completed the next turn. I have let the barracks continued once I had three skirmishers available. The following pictures show the current state of affairs for us.
A skirmisher was wounded while attacking a Barbarian Archer. I did not promote it. I was moving to the hill with the fortified skirmisher to heal. The other one was making his way up to Genghis to see if he has Copper or Iron to his north and to get some intelligence on his cities. I would suggest that after the barracks are completed that a fourth Skirmisher be created and sent up to visit Napoleon (See following notes). Also research Sailing next so that we can protect the fishing nets.
I see we now know where to find the French, though, I think we need to make it a priority to see if have they access to Iron or Copper. Because by the looks of it Genghis does not have access to Iron and he recently adopted Slavery so I do not think he can see the Iron just outside of his boarders to the south.
I think we need to determine if the Iron to our East is on an island or accessible by Napoleon.
I think we should build a granary soonish, since we have so much food resources whipping will be a good way to utilized in it the short term.

You can use the upload center instead of attachments. You can see it's red icon at the right of the spoil button in the message editor window. You will get a link which you can apply using the insert image button.
Re:images ~ Using imageshack is fine, since it is not space limited (OTOH, CFC upload is). Just don't use the thumbnail tags, and don't resize to 320x240. Actually I prefer photobucket since it allows you to create different folders, and upload up to 20 images at one time.
Back to the game: we should start settling some land ... dot-map anyone?
Tratan, I agree with your dot map (BTW: How do you create those notes in the pictures?). Do we want to mine (chop) the forested hill to help with the production of a Settler or Granary? Or do we just stick to whipping for now. Also should we consider some wonders of our own? The Colossus for instance maybe worth trying to get since we could have 3 early cities on the coast. We already get an extra commerce added to any tile with two commerce, with the Financial trait, so the Colossus may pay off quite nicely. The only draw back I see is that we have no Copper to us help speed its construction. Another silly thought is I guess with the Granary we may want to get a lighthouse built to really maximize the fishing nets and whipping.
As for Genghis having cities walls, I thought he might get them soon. Oh well. I guess we will need to go for Construction. Does he have horses? If not let keep it that way and if so lets remove them from his access and fast. So maybe we need to paid the French a visit and see if they invested in walls for their cities if not lets remove him from our continent.
We need Astronomy to trade with our friends, so the Colossus won't
last long.
With all the food in Timbuktu we should run some specialists soon.
We can already hire 2 scientists and with the mint also an engineer.
Maybe if we pop-up a Great Engineer we can rush a wonder and not
waste any resources on wonders.
Maybe we can capture Karakorum without siege weapons as soon as
our swordsmen have 10XPs from fighting barbarians.
For our tech path : if we need a particular tech for our empire make a
switch, otherwise let's proceed with the Optics path.
Hmm ... being perfectly frank (and blunt), I think we are in a mess. We are building swords ... for? Someone got us sailing but we have no trireme guarding our nets? Year 1000 BC and we have yet settle a 2nd city? Hmmm ...
How did the previous player managed to gt a warrior to build roads?
Anyway, I switched build to a trireme, just in time to whip it and guard a net from nappy (he proceeds to pillage one of our nets).
The sword is then allowed to continue, which I then changed to a settler. Instead of the two signs suggested by Tatran, I proposed the following two:
My reason being food resources. The two originally proposed sites, although nearer to the capitol, would be so sacred for food that they can hardly helps in production and commerce. Instead, I think we should be a bit more aggressive and try to grab the greener pastures instead of settling for the worthless tundra sites.
